Video scaling on a per show basis (Set as default for show) critical - thatblissguy - 2018-12-02
After years of waiting... this is the oldest problem with Kodi ..since the advent of HDTV!!
Ok...
Older shows (4:3) need to display all episodes in say, 16:9 Stretch.
You save this as default (which works fine while watching this show).
You play a newer show (widescreen).
The (widescreen) show is now ALSO Streched 16:9!
You change the setting back. (ugh!)
Can't we have a per folder, or per show setting default?? Can't we just auto detect the ratios and have a video global to (IF 4:3 THEN STRETCH 16:9 ELSE NORMAL) ?
This is the missing link of Kodi !

while i agree the current system is clunky, you chose a really really shitty example to illustrate! cause that option exists and has existed for 10 years.

How else are we supposed to watch both 4:3 and 16:9 formats??!!

Again, what you are asking for has been available for 10 years, or to use your own words 'since the advent of hdtv'. You find it in video player settings. You have to have advanced settings visible. https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Player/Videos#Display_4:3_videos_as

16:9 stretch for 4:3 videos - yuck!
Waiting for the next request for all that 2.35:1 content so it fills a 16:9 screen!
