RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - dkangel - 2019-09-16

i think there is still a problem with the movie database

i just add dead silence movie from 2007. it find a dead silence movie from 1997 in the pop-up windows BUT scrap the good info from 2007...

Edit : and it's not the only movie to have that problem apparently

RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - Karellen - 2019-09-16

@dkangel

Sorry cannot replicate the issue. Scraped first time for me.

To all members. Post the link to the movie you are reporting and a Debug Log
If not, your issue will be ignored.

RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - pepotr - 2019-09-18

TMDB movie scraper seems to be completely broken for me now. Does not scrape (find) a single movie correctly. Last week it was working ok and nothing was changed on my end.

Two example movies (among many):
Child's Play (2019) https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/533642-child-s-play?language=en-US  didn't find the 2019 movie at all
Used Universal Scraper instead.
The Salton Sea (2002) https://www.themoviedb.org/search/movie?query=The%20Salton%20Sea&language=en-US
TMDB scraper found The Salton Sea (2006) which turned out to be the 2002 movie and is being listed 2002 in my collection. Strange...

Many movies are like this, scraped with incorrect year data and many are not found at all.

A friend of mine has the same issue.

RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - sberla54 - 2019-09-18

Hi Pepotr, have you tried updating The Movie Database "metadata.themoviedb.org" add-on to 5.1.9, using the following procedure?

Quote:I've updated "metadata.themoviedb.org" to 5.1.9 using the add-on browser this way:
1. Wait up to 24 hours for your repository and add-on to update automatically, assuming you have not disabled these settings
2. Go to Settings > Add-ons and force a repository update from the left sideblade menu by selecting Check for updates. You may need to wait until the update reaches the servers in your part of the world.
3. Go to Settings > Add-ons > My add-ons > Information providers > Movie information > The Movie Database > Select it and check it's "metadata.themoviedb.org" > Open the left sideblade and select Update > Install 5.1.9.

Or possibly the one explained by Karellen in the previous page of this thread?

2. Go to Settings > Add-ons and force a repository update from the left sideblade menu by selecting Check for updates. You may need to wait until the update reaches the servers in your part of the world.
3. Download and install from zip from the following links...
Gotham - http://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/gotham/metadata.themoviedb.org/
Krypton - http://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/krypton/metadata.themoviedb.org/

That solved the issue for me.

RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - pepotr - 2019-09-18

Hi sberla54. Thanks for your reply.
I just checked the tmdb scraper version and it's 5.1.9!
Seems the new version does not solve the issue for me. Sad

Same kind of problem for me. I have difficulties to scrap some movies that were good scraped a month ago.

And the same problem with some dates.

So you are not alone. Wink

I'm sorry, that's the only thing I had to do to solve my issue, apart from double checking file names, since a couple of ones were wrong and different from The Movie Database list.

I think you should try to post a Debug Log so developers can understand your case and give you support.
That's the procedure by Karellen:

Quote:To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum.

Cheers!

RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - Kaojai - 2019-09-29

Hi,
Longtime lurker, first time post.
I am using:
MacOS 10.14.6
Macbook Air
Kodi 18.3
tmdb scraper v5.1.9

I have a question about the tmdb scraper. Or maybe the API. I'm not sure.

I use the "Movie Folder" naming convention for movies on my hard drive, keeping an individual movie in each folder. To keep the movies sorted properly when a title starts with an article like "The", I have been naming those folders as follows:
"The XXXXXXXXXX (2010)" => "XXXXXXXXXX, The (2010)"
For example, I would name the folder for "The Dead Don't Die (2019)" => "Dead Don't Die, The (2019)".

I've been doing this for years without a problem but something changed recently. I tried to scrape "Dead Don't Die, The (2019)". The scrape failed, saying in the log that no information was found. However, once I changed the name to "Dead Don't Die (2019)", then it scraped the data, no problem. To verify the problem, I removed The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018) from my library, then attempted to re-scrape it. Same result. It failed when the name of the folder was "Ballad of Buster Scruggs, The (2018)" (even though that title worked fine before) and then succeeded when I changed the name to "Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018)"

Not a huge deal. I can leave the article off, I suppose. But it's going to be a real pain if I (God forbid) have to re-scan my 4000+ collection again at some point and I have to rename a large number of those folders. My question is, is this a problem with the scraper, or is this a problem with how the tmdb API now returns the results of a scan?
Thanks,
Kaojai

RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - olympia - 2019-09-29

Are you aware there is an option in Media Settings/ General to ignore such articles when sorting? Smile
So that practice was not needed.

RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - Kaojai - 2019-09-29

Yes, I'm aware of that option. In fact, I use it. But the reason I use that convention when naming my folders is to keep the files sorted properly on my hard drive.

Did you find a solution for this?  I have for years used this format and have just recently started to get hit by failed scans with "Movie, The"

Thanks,

RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - Karellen - 2019-10-24

@Kaojai
@FlangeMonkey

I don't think there is a solution. I also use that format with some (not all) movies, but did not realise there was an issue until Kaojai posted so I went back and tested some of my movies and confirmed the problem. (but forgot to post about it)

eg Empire Strikes Back, The

Strangely, it is also a problem with the beta Python Movie scraper by @rmrector

I guess something has changed at TheMovieDB site for both types of scrapers to have a problem.

It is not a problem with the Universal Movie Scraper by @olympia, but that looks up the title at IMDB by default, which also points to a change at TheMovieDB

Thank you very much for your quick response.  I was playing around with manual searching on themoviedb.org and some movies like "shinning, the" (I have to remove the year in brackets) works but others like "Empire Strikes Back, The" and "Bridge on the River Kwai, The" don't.

Like Kaojai, I started to play around with removing "the" from the search string and it finds movies fine.  Therefore I think your guess is correct and this is a TheMovieDB issue so I might create a thread on this in there support section.  Additional, does the plugin do any reformatting for the API to TheMovieDB, if so would it be unreasonable to suggest reformatting based on this naming format?

I've been using Kodi/XBMC for a very, very long time (back in the Xbox original days) and vaguely recall an option for this naming convention for scraping.  I assume its that long gone this is irrelevant, but for my sanity and all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

No, no solution and no help from anyone on this thread. I tried using tinyMediaManger to scrape those movies and got the same result. I'm guessing the problem is with the TMDB API, since it was just re-written. So I have abandoned the ", The" folder naming format going forward and have generated individual .nfo files for each movie in my library so that, in the event I have to re-scan everything at some point, I won't have to go back and change the names of a bunch of existing folder names to get them to scan properly.

RE: TheMovieDB movie scraper - Karellen - 2019-11-24

@Kaojai
@FlangeMonkey

It looks like there was a change at TMDB that now prevents that naming format to work... https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/5d6e0b0265686e3899882a75

Unfortunately the current XML scrapers probably won't be updated to work around this.

FYI, the future Python scraper has taken this into account... https://github.com/xbmc/metadata.themoviedb.org.python/pull/15
