Store movie artwork/nfo in a separate folder - leecheb - 2019-05-14

Hey, on windows how do you change the directory where the artwork/nfo is stored for a movie. I found the option for storing movie SET artwork separately but can't find anything for regular movies.
thanks

There is no option.

well that sucks, guess I'm just not going to bother with the NFO files for each movie. As for the artwork, what about if I just delete them from the movie folder after they are cached, does the cache folder have a maximum size before its pruned or something.

Kodi looks in the movie folder for an .nfo / artwork when scanned.  If it's not there it won't use it, so the option to store elsewhere makes no sense..
After a scan you can delete .nfo's, but artwork isn't cached instantly.  The cache (userdata/Thumbnails) doesn't have a max size.

Nobody's making you use .nfo files.

In addition to the comments by troggy,

If you scan your movies/tv shows from local artwork, then delete the local artwork in the movie folder after scan, in 24 hours Kodi will also remove the cached artwork. If you scan local artwork, then the local artwork needs to remain. Does not apply to nfo files.

We are assuming you are using TMM to prepare for Kodi scans.

I had no idea that was the case.  Every day's a school day!
