RE: KyraDB [ARTWORK PROJECT] Character Poster Sets - DISCUSSION - Karellen - 2019-11-08

It seems like there are two different conversations happening Smile

Posters are .jpg, which is what I think you are doing @Konon judging by your Valerian poster

@rschiks If you need posters in the original resolution (7200x10500), then I will post it in the archive. On your site there are also restrictions on the size of the sides of the file - the height is limited to 4000 pixels.

P.S. Something I did not understand ... Posters loaded in general with different resolutions from 3000 to 4000. So it depends on the weight of the file and should it be <5 mb?

@Konon

I have moved your posters into the other artwork thread. Discussions still stay in this thread. Thanks. Nice posters

RE: KyraDB [ARTWORK PROJECT] Character Poster Sets - DISCUSSION - Konon - 2019-11-08

I decided that here on the site I will upload small copies of posters, and send @rschiks files for the KyraDB database with the original permission.

I think a max resolution of 4000 is enough. I currently have an upload limit of 15MB, but of course I can change this.

RE: KyraDB [ARTWORK PROJECT] Character Poster Sets - DISCUSSION - rschiks - 2019-11-08

@Konon I still think the focus should be on new character poster sets, instead of replacing current ones, unless, of course they are much better.

@"chrissix" already upload a lot. Valerian was one of them, see https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=345299&pid=2867124#pid2867124 for the index.

This Valerian character poster set is already uploaded:

Yes, I know Big Grin  But to be honest I find it not a significant improvement to replace it, and already 2300+ have already been uploaded.
That’s why I mentioned the focus on new character poster sets  Rofl

There are posters 2867765 but in resolution 1385x2048
2867774  1920x2795
Upload or not needed?

To be honest I haven't thought about the possibility replacing posters. Well, as option of the website I mean. The likes should be kept of course.
Let me give it some thoughts. I probably will extend the site and add a replace option.

What do you think @"chrissix" ?

Of course, what @Konon mentioned was done on purpose.

The thumbnails in the forum are linked directly from websources (mostly IMPawards) and is not the source content for KyraDB.
And on the direct linked Posters from websources into the forum theres is often no resolution  uniforminty.

I often mentenioned that the KyraDB images should be used and and not the forum thread images. They're just for overview.

On this Poster set (also some others) only a few Posters was avaiable in higher resolution. This case happens on older movies.
Of course if on a 10 piece poster set only 2 are in high resolution and the rest 8 in low, the whole set 10 set will be adapted to low.

Resolution and Aspect ratio uniformity of each set has higher priority. Only then the transistions and fade effects in Kodi skin will look good.

But what if you add posters already edited to the standard (new) KODI to the database?
For example:
The poster has a resolution of 1000x1500 (1000x1426 posters with Fanart.tv aspect ratio distorted in KODI)
Image Image
Poster source in original resolution (the rest of the set may have a different resolution and aspect ratio)

For me, English is also not my native language ... This google translator is to blame. Smile
I suggest uploading posters to KyraDB only with a resolution of 1000x1500 - the standard for KODI.
Or at least with the right aspect ratio of 2:3
