[Android] CD Cover Art is not showing up on fullscreen play - schattenfell - 2019-09-18

Hi from Germany!

I am a complete newbie with all of this stuff and I really like your work.

I am running Kodi on my Android tablet and use it to stream music which is located on my NAS.

The streaming works and Rapier is a fantastic skin. I was able to get myself the Artist slideshows for the background which looks great.

My problem is now that the OSD ( in fullscreen music play) shows only the spinning CD and the text on the right of it. The CD artwork/cover is not visible on the left of the spinning cd.

Can someone hlep me to get this visible?

Hi schattenfell and welcome to the forums.

Album covers need to be scraped by the scraper. Or they can be embedded in the audio file.
I recommend using Universal Album Scraper and Universal Artist Scraper.

Go to the settings of Universal Album Scraper
Enable this artwork: all 3 album thumb types, both discart types.
Back cover and spine should be disabled.

Go to the settings of Universal Artist Scraper
Enable this artwork: both artist thumb types, both artist fanart types, both clearlogo types.
Disable the rest.

You can get disc artwork in 3 ways:

Download them manually from fanart.tv
Rename them "cdart.png"
Place them in the album folders
Use the addon Artwork Beef together with the Universal Album Scraper
Go to System > Media > Music > Artist Information Folder
Enter your preferred folder for all music artwork (the addon will use this folder)
Go to the settings for Artwork Beef > Music
DISABLE "Do not automatically add artwork…"
Prefer artwork from specific web service: MIXED
Enable these artwork types: Artist thumb, Artist fanart (1), Artist clearlogo, Album discart, Album thumb, Song thumb
Disable all other types
Artwork download configuration: all configured above
OK
Use the addon cdART Manager
The addon will create a database and you can download artwork (fanart, thumbs, disc art) for your entire library at once.
This addon will work, but it's absolutely not fast, and I just removed built in skin support for it.

Thanks for your help.

Let me see if I understand this:

For example:

Folder: "Queen"
Next Folder: "Best Of"
Subfolder: "CD01" and "CD02"

Do I have to place the cdart.png in the "Best of" or in both "CD01" and "CD02" folder?

Yes, that's completely correct.

Or even better. Use the central folder created by Kodi (System > Media > Music > Artist Information Folder).
And use Artwork Beef addon / Universal Album scraper to download all disc artwork.

You have to rescrape your entire music library for this to work.

By the way: don't use cdART Manager addon. I just removed built in skin support for that addon. Smile

Thanks again...I will try this later.

I have a lot of Opera recordings so I guess it will be better for me do add the artwork manuallly ( i have them as jpg. right now).

I will let you know if it works.

It does not work.

I have put a cdart.png in my folder where all the mp3 or flac are.

Everything worked...artist slideshow and the thumbs in the listings with the album cover.

But the album cover did not showed up left from the spinning CD.

HELP!

Is it only the cover not showing up?

Do the cdart.png images work?

Album thumbs probably need to be added to the database either manually or by a scraper.
To add them manually, go to the information window for the album > Choose Art > Thumbnail

Both...the cover and the cdart are not working.

CD disc art should work if you have enabled it in the skin settings.
Skin settings > Media > Music > Enable music cd art
Skin settings > Media > Fullscreen music > Show cd art and info in fullscreen music

I think you can long press on an item to bring up the context menu. Here you can click "Information".

Actually, in the information window you can also add the disc art.
You just have to add the art type yourself.

Go to the information window for an album > Choose art.
Click "Add art type" in the bottom.
Write "discart" and click Done.
Then restart Kodi.
You can now manually add the disc art for each album this way.

It is so strange.

Nothing worked with Kodi 18 Leia and I was trying to give it up.

Then I downloaded Kodi 17 Krypton just for fun and give it a try and everything worked fine without any great settings to do.

I see the album art and the spinning disc on fullscreen music.

And you know what....when I changed to Kodi 18 Leia....the album art will not show up.

No not strange at all, there we big changes to the way art is handled in v18. It can support a wider range of art types etc., but this additonal art (and disc art has always been additional, only the album covers are part of Kodi core processing) requires more set up.

So when you see spinning disc on v17 is is being provided by an addon and the skin has adapted to show it. The improvements in v18 are worth it, so I hope you will persist and do what is needed to get the disc art working with this skin.

Did you follow my steps with advancedsettings.xml or adding thumb and disc art via the info window?
This is for v18.

Also, try Estuary with v18 to see is thumbs are working.
I might have to do some minor changes for thumbs.
