It seems it does a lot of things, but they are all a little bugged... What a pity! RE: NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (2019 new model) - sisero - 2019-11-22 Anyone else having issues with connecting to network shares on the new Shield? I have tried smb, ftp and nfs. Nothing works. The first couple of days, ftp worked, but not anymore. Nothing changed on server side, all other machines can connect without problems. EDIT: Turns out it was a problem with a vpn. Switching it off solved the problem RE: NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (2019 new model) - docwra - 2019-11-22 (2019-11-21, 22:49)antony23 Wrote: While speaking about atv 4k and odroid n2 all say same (good) things... I haven't found a single issue with my 2019 Shield EDIT: actually that's not true, there was a small bug with google location services that meant the iPlayer and some other apps kept randomly disappearing from the home menu. The fix was to disable location services in the shield settings and all is well with the world again! I ave never heard that. I have had both and have never had any issues. I think that both of them will perform very similar in this regard. Maybe you confused that with it's upscaling ability? On the previous models it was a notch behind the competition. This has been remedied with the new model. Well not totally because there are still some AI upscaling limitations, especially for those that watch broadcast interlaced TV: 2019 Nvidia Shield Ai upscaling settings (click) But much better vs the non 2019 Shields RE: NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (2019 new model) - SilverBlade - 2019-11-23 (2019-11-22, 14:19)docwra Wrote:I find transferring files over the network to hard drives attached to the Shield is slow. Anyway, could not be kodi on the shield setted as autoresolution (with whitelist), so that shield handles deinterlacing and tv upscaling? Setting in whitelist all above 30fps should let tv handle upscaling.. Or not? If yes, this should solve bad upscaling when AI cannot be used... Btw, no one asked nvidia if these limits on AI upscaling will be removed in future? I beleave this cannot be an HW limiy, but only software. I used Shield's AI Enhanced-medium level for comparison against other devices. I also compared the different AI Enhanced levels. For Kodi, I used Lancsoz3-Optimized for 480/720p and bilinear for 1080p. On Apple TV 4K, I used Infused. The test pattern is from Spears & Munsil HD & UHD Benchmark discs. The surprise to me is how good the Ordroid N2 is at upscaling 1080p to 4k. I'd put it above the AppleTV 4k. If you want only 4k output then only whitelist the 4k frame rates. If you want to output content at native resolution then select all that apply. |
