Here: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/arm64-v8a/kodi-20200103-e7623c62-forceraw-arm64-v8a.apk try this with the Shield plugged to the TV as you had it before. Note: This build is not suggested for everyone having the Shield connected to the AVR directly, it's simply not needed and it has no additional value.

Edit: Wait 20 minutes, the mirror needs to sync

I have an LG TV + Soundbar and when using Netflix via the Shield it's perfectly fine, but when watching movies through Kodi I can't get a Dolby Atmos signal through to the Soundbar.

Any ideas?
I couldn’t get Kodi to output Atmos to my LG C9 even the TV supports Atmos on the Shield from Plex, Netflix etc, as soon as I plugged the Shield into my Denon Kodi started outputting Atmos, I think maybe Kodi doesn’t output Atmos unless your TV / Soundbar edid reports TrueHD compatible.

I don't have any problems with Kodi and Atmos (lossy or lossless) on a Shield 2019 attached directly to an LG C9 (playing local content).

Hi, so if connected directly to the C9 and you play a movie from Kodi with TrueHD Atmos, The Dolby Atmos banner displays on the TV screen?

That's not what he said. Never the less with the build above chances are high you get it working.

Yes, I have a couple of UHD disc rips that I made. I get the HDR and Atmos banner when they play. I haven't done anything special to the config except allow passthrough of the audio formats that the C9 supports. Happy to provide any other info needed. Here is an example of one of the files.

What AVR do you have connected to it? Wondering if this is properly working eARC

No AVR, direct connect to TV. Trying to figure out how to get kodi logs off the Shield. This is the first one I've owned.

edit: debug log below

Hi Fritsch,

This build fixed my issues everything is works okay now.
Will this fix be included in the next release of Kodi ?

RE: NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (2019 new model) - fritsch - 2020-01-04

No. It has sever disadvantages as lined out. It is not a fix - but a workaround for your specific configuration & setup.

RE: NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (2019 new model) - Grumpyman - 2020-01-05

Confused on the settings for the shield and how to get passthrough working properly  , i followed the guide on how to set up the shield for lossless audio

read that "sync playback to dislpay" needs to be checked but wHen i haveit checked i dont get the lossless audio but if i uncheck it i do , this is the same on a 2017 and 2019 shield and a denon 3500.
i am sure its another setting that i messed up.
Any ideas what else i need to check?...I always check with saving private ryan and when its checked i get DSurround and unchecked i get DTS MA

thanks

See: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/17133 - though, this for sure won't be anything for Leia

HDR YouTube is already working with the VP9 profiles. You have to enable VP9 HDR profiles in plugin.video.youtube settings.

Nvidia has already said they cannot do VP9 Profile 2 decoding which is required for YouTube HDR.

Keep in mind many videos with HDR in the title are not actually HDR (which is why they play correctly).

Iirc vp9 hdr profile 2 is working using the gles ffmpeg path, but if so, most likely only kodi 19

'Sync Playback to Display' will always decode and output as PCM (or Dolby Digital/AC3 if transcode enabled) because it has to do resampling (which you can't do in the compressed domain) to keep audio synced at 'off speed' display rates (This option is there, for example, to allow 23.976 to be played back at 24.000 without dropped or repeated frames, but in doing so the audio has to change speed slightly - or vary)  You don't get bitstream/passthrough (and thus DTS HD or Dolby True HD bitstream/passthrough output) with this option enabled.

Beware of confusing sync playback with adjust playback refresh rate (which will switch between output refresh rates based on content - rather than outputting at a fixed rate.) My understanding is that you may need your playback to output at the original refresh rate for some HD Audio bitstreaming solutions to work properly, so enabling this on Start/Stop is required. (I do it on all platforms I have, or whitelist to achieve the same result, as I always want output refresh rates that match, or are 2:2 of the original, to avoid frame drop/repeat judder such as 3:2 on 24p played at 60Hz, 10Hz judder on 50Hz content played at 60Hz, micro stutter etc.)
