Libreelec boot from usb or use windows 10 app? - mattyspurs76 - 2019-12-30

Only just heard of libreelec over the weekend and luckily enough I had to install an new ssd in my pc and reinstall windows.

So looked online and created a usb with it on and installed it on my PC. I wanted to dual boot with my pc but I hadn't installed the ssd right (ide not sata).

So I've just reinstalled windows and forgot about libreelec doh!

So, I see I can just boot up from usb which maybe an option. Any benefits to this instead of windows 0 app of kodi? I dont know which route to go down

As usual, it *depends*. In my case, I'm using the latest LibreELEC Kodi 19 Alpha builds, installed directly on my NUC8i5. Runs great.

I also have an M.2 SSD with Win 10 installed on it that I run in the same box from time to time, to test Windows version of Kodi. LE is *much faster* as a native installation than the Windows/Kodi installation.

However, I *also* have a USB 3.1 thumbdrive with LE 9.2 (Kodi 18.5) installed on it that I boot to on that NUC8i5 sometimes, and aside from a slightly longer bootup, IT runs as fast as the native LE installation and also faster/smoother than Kodi 18.5 installed under Windows on the same box.

So, in my case, USB Kodi works great and is faster/smoother than Windows/Kodi.

Your mileage may vary, but you should try both and see if it works for you.
