Hey all, my first post, I'm hoping this is the correct place to put this. If not I'll gladly post in the right topic!
I have Kodi 18.5 installed on my Sony Android TV running Android 7.00 API level 24 (kernel: 3.10.79).
I see a lot of threads here about setting up PVR backend software, and also read that there is no native Android/Kodi PVR backend/frontend apps.
I noticed that for whatever reason when I watch a movie now, I see whatever HDMI input the TV was last on in the background. This is not an issue as I can figure out how to remedy that I'm sure.
But it got me thinking, is there a way to allow Kodi to switch the HDMI input and display that on the screen?
I have a Bell VIP2502 cable box, I'm not concerned about the control of that device as I have a universal remote so as long as I can bring the HDMI input to the foreground, I should be able to control the cable box as desired (although kodi control of that would be pretty cool too, and even if I have to write something that allows my Harmony Elite to talk to it, I'm sure I will accomplish that).
Basically what I'm asking:
a) Can Kodi allow HDMI video passthrough? I assume it's POSSIBLE as it currently IS doing so, but as an error.
b) It is an android TV, is Kodi able to control the HDMI input?
If not, I'm going to try to write something for it. But best not to reinvent the wheel, especially since my code would be sketchy at best...
