RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - azerafati - 2019-07-11

I'm having trouble to use this, in my country youtube is censored and I'm using a socks5 proxy to connect. It works on pc and my phone and in kodi I set it in the system setting under the internet access. I see the error "NewConnectionError" in the Logs. I can search and see the results and their thumbs and cover pictures so I know the connection is working. Is it possible that playing the video itself is not respecting the proxy settings and tries to connect directly? and idea?

This version 6.5.0 has been working perfectly in my Windows 7 and in my Android 5 and 6 until today.
I can use it to display youtube streams but not Live streams (QVC, HSN, etc).
Live streams were playing with no problems until today. Now none of the 6.5.xx will play them. The 6.4.xx will play them but only for a few seconds.
If I reinstall YT using version 6.4 that will show live streams but only for a few seconds (10 for example) and then youtube exits (Kodi still fine).

Here is log info (I hope): https://paste.kodi.tv/juxazitise.kodi.
BTW, I didn't realize how much I depend on your wonderful addon. Thank you.

Having the same problem. Clips work great. Live streams do not. Was working yesterday, now they arent.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - blueribb - 2019-07-11

I am also having the same problem with Live Streams not working (last night)

YouTube Plug-in Thread - bym007 - 2019-07-11

Based on last few posts, I am fairly confident that YouTube has made some changes. I was reading somewhere that YouTube has blocked the 3rd party MP3 download websites.

Confirmed, since last night, exactly this.

@Mashiro-sama
I still need to rework quality selection to resolve the issue. Hopefully soon.

@asik1, @anteevy
Need a complete debug log (wiki) to hopefully see what it causing the issue.

@azerafati
I will have to look into that further.

@meNick, @bym007, @caseguy, @blueribb, @Del369
Live streams should be working again with 6.5.1~alpha1

I've updated post #2 and the repositories with 6.5.1~alpha1
Downloads: https://github.com/jdf76/plugin.video.youtube/wiki/Installation#in-development-versions
Code:
~alpha1
[add] get_live to youtube_requests module to retrieve live stream info for a channel
[fix] live stream playback

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - fraserc - 2019-07-13

Hi,

I (and another users) are getting a strange error when searching with the Youtube add-on - the bizarre thing is the issue only seems to occur when a video has been played in the British Pathè plugin (of which I am the author).

You can see the discussion of that on this thread.

In short - when a video has been played on the British Pathé add-on - any subsequent search via the YouTube add-on fails and throws an error.

I can see the error is at: plugin.video.youtube/resources/lib/youtube_plugin/kodion/utils/search_history.py in the "list" method of the "SearchHistory" class.
line 32:
python:
result.append(item[0])

It appears that the "_get" method of the "Storage" class at: plugin.video.youtube/resources/lib/youtube_plugin/kodion/utils/storage.py returns "None" in some cases - but the line causing the error never checks to see if "item" is None - giving the error:
Code:
TypeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute '__getitem__'

Here is the truncated log of the error: https://paste.kodi.tv/ulaminagub.kodi

Why this only seems to occur after a video has been played in another add-on isn't immediately apparent - however I think it is something to do with the sqlite3 connection. My addon does use an sqlite3 database to cache recently played items - however it does correctly close the connection and cursor after use and itself is not giving any errors.

More than happy to offer and additional information that could help.

Many thanks.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - blueribb - 2019-07-13

I almost never see buffering when playing a YouTube video with the plugin. In the last 2 days, there is buffering on most every video I play. The video will freeze and then restart a number of times. I also noticed when selecting a YouTube video on my Windows 10 Desktop, that it sometimes just shows a blank, black screen and refreshing the browser will start the video. It's pretty apparent that YouTube is making some changes that affects watching their videos.

I just installed 6.5.1 alpha 1, so I'll see if there's any improvement with buffering later today.
