Youtube addon at OSMC - proxy is not running - dkovacic74 - 2020-03-15

Hi,

I installed youtube addon to OSMC at Raspberry pi. After initial problems with API keys, I made it working, i.e. I can play youtube movies on raspbery pi. When I buy movie at https://play.google.com, I can play this movie at youtube on web, but when I want it to play at youtube addon in OSMC, it reports error "Proxy is not running". Why proxy is required for that movie (purchased at play.google.com), but not required for movies at youtube?

I found some proxy configuration for KODI, but in OSMC, I cannot find those proxy settings.

Any ideas what need to be done?
Thanks!

@dkovacic74 - I've merged your post into the correct YouTube support thread, so the author and other supporters can find it and hopefully assist.

So, finally Kodi Youtube Addon API key error has been solved.
Error message was : Project 294899064488 has been scheduled for deletion and cannot be used for API calls
If you want to check workaround how I solved this problem, check this video:

Hi everybody
I need your help in creating API keys as in the above description.  I Used Kodi on an Android Smart (Sony) TV set. When creating API keys, I come to the page "Add credentials to your project " the question arises: "Where will you be calling the API from?" Should I here mark "Android" or " "other UI (e.g. Windows...." ?? If I mark "Android", I come to "Package name is required" and "Fingerprint is requied" and I get lost. If I select "other UI..." is it going to make any problem that I use Kodi and YouTube add-on under Android op.s. and not WindowsHuh If personal API keys are generated, how long are they valid and useable??

@dkovacic74
The proxy it is referring to is YouTube add-on Settings - HTTP Server
To enable it YouTube add-on Settings - MPEG-DASH - Use MPEG-DASH and YouTube add-on Settings - MPEG-DASH - Use for videos must be enabled
For purchased content I'd also install YouTube add-on Settings - MPEG-DASH - Install InputStream Helper

If the purchased video stalls/stops playing video; see https://github.com/jdf76/plugin.video.youtube/issues/716#issuecomment-576899873

Just do as it shows in the wiki walk-through, https://imgur.com/ThPrhPb

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - Spiffz - 2020-03-16

I had it all working until a few weeks ago.  Then whenever I would start the plugin it would just fail.  I uninstalled the plugin and started over.  Once I did that I could start the app, then it would error with App is Scheduled for Deletion error when I'd try and search.  So I created a new API key, ID, Secret.  Which got past that issue.  Now I could search again and get results.  So I tried signing in, I got through both device pairings.  Then it died.  Now whenever I start the app it just errors out again, like it did a few weeks ago.

I installed the log viewer, and I can now see the error:

ERROR: GetDirectory - Error getting plugin://plugin.video.youtube/
ERROR: CGUIMediaWindow::GetDirectory(plugin://plugin.video.youtube/) failed

Running Kodi 18.6, Youtube 6.6.0  on android box

Thanks

@Spiffz
Install the beta from post #2 , if that doesn't resolve the issue I will need a complete debug log (wiki)

Here is log https://paste.kodi.tv/livafuguhe.kodi. Could you please check.
I solved all realted to API keys.

Also, I do not have settings manual at all. All setings I'm doing in .kodi\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.youtube\settings.xml  I wander, why there is no categories in youtube addon->settings. Any idea?

Hi,

This had been working fine for me up until yesterday, now no matter what I try, the plugin errors.

I have linked to a log from a clean install of Kodi 18.5 and the 6.7.0 beta1 version of this plugin if someone is able to take a look and advise further?  noyetorufa.kodi (paste)

I have also tested this on a clean install of 18.6 and 6.7.0. Alpha 2 with the same results.

Cheers

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Kodi and set Kodi up from scratch with Youtube plugin V6.6 and Kodi 18.6. Still not working.

When I select "Sign In" I receive a dialog appears stating "You must enable two applications etc......". When you click OK, nothing seems to happen and them at random you may receive the dialog box with the code to enter into the Google site. You enter the keys in Google and proceed to allow Kodi access to your account. After the keys are entered, there is no change in Kodi, the dialog box with the same keys remains open and may disappear at some stage. Sometimes the send dialog box appears with a different set of keys and these are entered into the Google but as previous, the keys diaog box doesn't close. A few minutes later the dialog box disappears but the plugin is still not signed in.

I am at the limit of my knowledge and looking for guidance on whether this is a plugin or an underlying Kodi on Android issue or anything else I can try.

Can anyone assist?

1. Two apps authentication/connection. Dialog appears: go to Google.com/device and register with the following code: …….. Under Kodi I can't go to a web site, I leave Kodi and browse for Google.com/device with a web browser Sony TV has got. After entering the code, google answers that the YT add-on has been added to my Google a/c, but back to Kodi nothing has changed, I still cannot proceed with You Tube add-on.

2. Even if all the three types of key generated (API Key, Client Id, Client Secret) and proceedure as described followed, YT add-on says: API Key is in incorrect.

Any idea What did I wrong?

(2020-03-08, 23:31)freeurope Wrote: Hello. You must first uninstall youtube from Kodi, you did that. The second step is important. It is to shut down the entire Kodi and erase the remains of the youtube application. Even if you uninstalled youtube in Kodi, the remainder will still remain. Only after you clean up the rest of youtube will you turn on Kodi and install the version of the youtube plugin manually, or by updating from the official repository with 6.7.0 alpha2. Then you can manually disable auto-update in the youtube add-on. Youtube should work without a key. The cleanup of youtube remains is important.
Path for cleaning....
"Kodi / userdata / addon_data / plugin.video.youtube /"
The above is clear, but how can I delete the remains of youtube on an Android Sony TV set under Kodi?? I downloaded ES File Explorer to my Android TV and even with this File Manager app I simply not able to delete files or folders. The smart TV version of ES File Explorer simply does not allow you to delete application folders or files. Any idea?

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - widardd - 2020-03-18

I encountered a weird issue after upgrading from 18.5 to 18.6. Any action within the addon takes literally 10 minutes, I am not exaggerating, I see the loading animation for 10 minutes when I try to enter a category or play something.
After that it works fine. (Lubuntu 18.04)
