Hi Murad :-) To temporary resolved this issue, try enabled "InputStream Adaptive" under "VideoPlayer InputStream" addons and finally, in YouTube setting, enabled "Use MPEG-DASH". You still can fine tune your media setting via InputStream Adaptive configuration setting. Enjoy!

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - Amedeus - 2018-09-30

@Morgan Bateson Well, good news and bad news. The good news is that worked! The bad news is I gave it a day to make sure it worked, and last night the same problem happened again. I have a YouTube playlist I've been leaving on at night for some months now, and never had an issue with, but both times this has happened, it's been overnight while that playlist was running. So it could be an issue with playlists, or with a particular video, or it could just be complete coincidence.

I'm including the full log from last night for anyone who can figure this out. It starts around mid-day though, so there's probably a lot that can be skipped. I think I went to bed sometime around 10, I wasn't really keeping exact track.

Also, to anyone else who wants to try Morgan's method, I did have another issue, which was that somewhere in the process at least a third of my Kodi Favorites disappeared. So make sure to back up your Favorites file before beginning.

@arielf
Not sure exactly what you're asking, setting up widgets would be done in the skin. You can use the unofficial versions to control the view -thumbnails vs list-
For the unofficial versions see the links in post #2.

@Amedeus
You can manually delete userdata (wiki)/addon_data/plugin.video.youtube/access_manager.json to resolve the issue.
Not sure whats causing the file to corrupt atm.

@roliverosc
I've never experienced this, will try to reproduce when I get a chance.

@qwertyy
There was a similar issue with vods on android, which was caused by availabilityStartTime="2001-12-17T09:40:57Z" in the dash manifest.
This is something we can't change for live streams, but when I get a chance I will download a copy of the live manifest and check if this is the cause here as well.

@bryan3r3 Would need a full debug log (wiki) to see what is returned for those videos, but this isn't the first report.
With you using 6.1.4, it makes me suspect YouTube is removing >360p in favor of mpeg-dash. I still need to look further into this.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - qwertyy - 2018-09-30

I would suspect, availabilityStartTime="2001-12-17T09:40:57Z will cause this

Can you tell why it can't be removed? Hls live streams with twitch don't have this issue. Is this code not part of the hls manifest?

Do you know anything to fix it for live streams? Maybe peak3d knows a solution?

@anxdpanic Here is the full debug log as requested:

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - fbacher - 2018-10-01

I am experiencing occasional hangs in Kodi 18 when the screensaver trailer service calls youtube to play a remote trailer. The problem appears to occur whenever the video fails to play:
  1. _4WgxKTJ09E is for a movie which has a content warning. On investigation of the failure I realized that I had not setup Youtube to play any content. My assumption is that youtube failed to play it and somehow the trailer screensaver failed to process the error properly
  2. HXTNbcBcpM4 causes Youtube in browser to just sit there with "Video unavailable" Tarzan and the Leopard..." ...has been terminated due to ... copyright...
  3. Love is on the Air (1937) trailer: V_rf6mE_AN0 returns Video Unavailable in browser (perhaps it was taken down too)
(Long) log file at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gh0u1gp5ofapi0c/kodi.youtube.log?dl=0

I'm hoping that there is enough of a clue here to determine which addon is the source of the problem.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - aliencreature - 2018-10-08

Until very recently setting "search history size" to zero prevented display of previous searches.  Now (currently 6.1.4) previous searches are displayed regardless of search history setting of 0.  Is there any way to restore previous behavior?

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - pixel8tor - 2018-10-09

Hi, I'm trying to play "Twit live" stream on YT. It plays for about 5 seconds then stops and goes to the Kodi17.6 home screen. It's always the same. If I select "Live" from the plugin, from that list some of the videos play normally but others also stop after 5 seconds. I've enabled "inputstream adaptive" and "inputstream rtmp", and set the YT plugin to use "mpeg-dash". Here's a debug log:

I'd sure appreciate any help -- thanks

@qwertyy
I responded https://github.com/peak3d/inputstream.adaptive/issues/187, not sure if that is you, has the issue been resolved?

@bryan3r3
This appears to be something on YouTube's end. Using inputstream.adaptive/mpeg-dash is the only way get the higher quality at this time.

@fbacher
 I don't see a direct cause. The trailer screensaver service has not been updated for ~4 years though, so I wouldn't expect it to run as intended on 18.

@aliencreature
See above for ~beta2.

@pixel8tor
There is nothing that can be done in Kodi 17.x to resolve the issue, on Kodi 18 all live streams are working with or without inputstream.adaptive/mpeg-dash.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - pixel8tor - 2018-10-09

Thanks for the answer @anxdpanic - that's a major regression - and a disappointment. Everything works fine with version 15.2, which is my usual player, and your exact same addon. Curious?! What happened? Is 18 stable enough to consider? The reason for trying 17.6 was to get the Pluto.tv addon(which doesn't work with 15.2) running. What a tangled web. Anyway, thanks for your work.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - blueribb - 2018-10-10

I have been using the YouTube Addon's Watch Later feature a lot lately but noticed I cannot remove videos. The error message I get when trying to remove a video is: "Playlist Item Not Found". I do not have a custom Watch Later Playlist ID. This may have been covered before but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance

YouTube Addon Version: 6.0.2
Libreelec 8.2.5 (Kodi 17.6)

Edit: I fixed it. I added some watch later videos and generated a custom Watch Later Playlist ID.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - stefan_o - 2018-10-10

I'm using Kodi 18b3 on Ubuntu 18.04 with YouTube plugin 6.1.4 and I cannot figure out how to setup quality better than 720p. I understand I need to enable DASH, which needs inputstrem-adaptive (?) and a HTTP proxy?
This has probably asked many times before, but I cannot find it. Is there a guide/tutorial/manual somewhere that explains it in detail?

If not, this are my questions:
How do I install/activate inputstream-adaptive? I cannot find it using the add-on search and somewhere I read it is included in Kodi 18, but I don't know how to activate it. Is it a compile time option?
The HTTP proxy config needs some IP addresses, what should I enter there? I've got no idea how this is working and what this server is needed for.

Best regards
Stefan

Edit: inputstream-adaptive is here: https://github.com/peak3d/inputstream.adaptive Would have been nice if the addon search would have found it, link is in the Kodi source.
Now I was able activate the settings and the Proxy settings were automatically filled. But it does not work, as soon as I activate Dash, no video can be played anymore. Here is the log when I try to play a video: https://paste.kodi.tv/yonuxogaki.kodi

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - Doc_f11 - 2018-10-10

Hey

I am seeing an issue where some videos just will not play. I can't seem to find any correlation between the various videos. Updating to latest version of the plugin does not seem to help.

Log here: https://pastebin.com/vRuxma3r

As a bonus bit if info, you you manually navigate to the huge URL mentioned in the start of the log, the video does appear to be broken.
So is it an issue with the plugin or is it somehow getting a bad URL from YouTube?

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - GOZARCK - 2018-10-11

I am also having the same issue as synixus, and bryan3r3  I am not seeing HD/720p videos.  All videos play in SD only.  Even when I set it manually in the settings or let it ask me to choose the quality every time, I am only seeing qualities up to 360p.

Yep the same thing here. low quality. i don´t understand why, because live is in hd im search 4k hawai videos and show me in HD but music videos in low quality. so what happend here?
maybe the codecs vp9 turn off the others high quality because android doen't support?. can you fix that without use inputstream and mpegdash thing.
thanks.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - heinzgruber - 2018-10-11

is there a plan that the youtube plugin for kodi plays videos in 4k hdr? i connected my nvidia shield to a 4k tv and the netflix app for kodi plays with inputstream adaptive with 4k hdr - youtube not.
