Oh no, I didn't mean you are clueless. I meant there is a lot of misconceptions online on whether 4k works on PCs with disney plus. Even disney's own customer support is wrong.

disney+ only do 4k with HDR / Dolby vision.
So if your device can't do HDR, you'll get weird behaviour.
You can turn off HDR support in the addon settings and it'll only give you the non-hdr streams (max 1080p i think)

turned hdr and dolby vision off, still not working. my divice definitely supports hdr. it works with the netflix addon and every other film in 4k.
recently i had a problem with ps5 and 4k hdr(it only said it supports 1080p + hdr), then i changed the 4k settings on the avr from standard to enhanced, now ps5 is 2160p + hdr.
i think the problem is L1 in the disney+ addon. When i change it to L3 720p is working....

You can try my settings but it may have some thing to do with the fact that the videos inputs for 2017 are 4K HDR (60 fps), 4K (60 fps), 1080p (60 fps), the 2019 are 4K HDR (60 fps), Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10, AI upscaling (4K at 30 fps).

Try changing the inputstream.adaptive addon setting "attempt to not use secure decoder" try off and on and see if either makes a difference
