Music search function in my collection - defleppard - 2020-05-17
Good afternoon, I come to ask a newbie question. My music collection is made up of many compilations made by me, for example "the best of the 80's" the best of the 90's "etc etc. The question is: what should I do to find the songs of a certain artist in my collection? for example search songs from "eric clapton"

Thanks, exactly I have used that function, but I face a drawback. In all compilations the artist tag of the album is loaded with the generic name "Various artists", and when I apply a filter by artist, the filter does not seem to read the artist name tag, but the artist tag of the album, so in compilations the filter does not show a specific artist but a general artist called "various artists".

You need to do the filtering from the 'artist' node, not the album node. Ensure that in settings->media->music that 'show song and album artists' is enabled (this is the default I think). Next open the 'artists' node so you see the list of all the artists in your db. Now open the filter from the sideblade and choose 'artist'. Type in the artist you are looking for. You should now see just that particular artist listed. Navigating into the artist should show all the albums (including compilations) that they appear on and navigating into one of those albums will show just the songs associated with that artist.
I think that should give you the right results.

You should tag Artist with the Artist Name and AlbumArtist as ‘Various Artists’. That should solve the problem.
