You can use Kore: https://kodi.wiki/view/Kore

Or enable the API configuration page in the addon, and access it using a web browser: https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube/wiki/Personal-API-Keys#method-2

RE: YouTube - blueribb - 2024-10-31

None of the quick cut & paste methods worked for me. I had to enter the API's manually. YouTube is up and running again on all my computers.

Thanks again MoojMidge

there is limited support for this addon on the forum, the developer has not even visited in quite a long time
you will likely do better on their github page https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube/issues

I didn't have a github account. I created one and opened a ticket.

And it is very easy to reproduce.

I managed to generate a log

https://paste.kodi.tv/rucesokoqu.kodi

I did change all the interal IP addresses to 000.000.000.000 for my own protection.
My internal user name is all over the paths, but no passwords.

I did notice an exception section that has
C:\Program Files\Kodi\system\python\Lib\socketserver.py
and
C:\Users\saurprivate\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\plugin.video.youtube\resources\lib\youtube_plugin\kodion\network\http_server.py

EDIT: The workaround posted in #810 seems to have worked for me.

RE: YouTube - WoGGo - 2024-11-02

Odroid N2 - CoreELEC 19.3-Matrix

YouTube @ 4K/60 HDR has been running fine with plugin.video.youtube-6.8.26.alpha5.

However, a few days ago I started to get the old error of: Failed to get player response for video_id "xxxxxxx"; a few tries and the video ended up playing, but now, no matter how many tries, it won't load.

Updated to plugin.video.youtube-7.1.0.1, ran through the Setup Wizard (multiple times) and whilst videos play now, they only play at 1080p, despite 4K being selected.

I've disabled AV1, leaving only VP9 and H265 etc.

Am I missing a setting here?

RE: YouTube - nycguy - 2024-11-02

I also getting the no stream found issue.    There is the Kodi version and then there's the updated plug ins.     Which one should I use?   I see beta 4?   Beta 5 didnt work for me.

RE: YouTube - Damnster - 2024-11-03

Hello,

I am using a S905X4 4GB TV-Box with CoreELEC 21.1.1-Omega (Stable) and have tried the following versions of the Youtube Addon: v7.0.9.2, v7.1.0.1, v7.1.1+beta.3 and v7.1.1+beta.4.

Is it normal that there are no 4K live streams selectable in the Youtube addon's video settings? Live streams only play as a maximum of 1080p, although they have up to 4K in the TV box's internal Android + my personal computer and run without any problems in 4K.

VODs, on the other hand, work perfectly in the Youtube addon with 4K, HDR, etc. So I don't think my TV box is too weak.

Thanks for the help.

RE: YouTube - pintricks - 2024-11-03

Hi,
When I play a music video youtube playlist, there sometimes is great inconsistency between the audio volume of the different videos in the playlist. Is there some kind of "audio gain" or "normalisation" option somewhere like with music files for videos in Kodi or the youtube add-on to address this?
Many thanks

As mentioned in the issue you opened, the workaround should not be necessary anymore. Are you able to test https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube/releases/tag/v7.1.1%2Bbeta.5 and confirm that it works without the workaround?

Do you have an example video? Which device capability preset did you select when configuring the performance settings?

I really have no idea what you are talking about. You are providing almost no information about whatever problem you were originally having, and no information about whatever problem you are now having regarding "the no stream found issue". What is version is "beta 4" that you are talking about? What version is "Beta 5" that didn't work? What didn't work? The latest beta versions are for v7.1.1 and at the time you posted, neither v7.1.1+beta.4 or v7.1.1+beta.5 existed.

If you have a problem, post a debug log as instructed previously. https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Easy

Unfortunately yes. Almost all of the video quality settings will not apply for live streams. The live streams that are played are direct from YouTube without any modification for quality or format preferences. 1080p is generally all that is generally available. I don't usually play live streams so haven't looked into whether alternate streams of better quality can be used.

For videos I don't believe there is.

RE: YouTube - Magician1981 - 2024-11-10

Today I used the YouTube add-on again after a while and noticed that 4k (HDR) videos did not play automaticcaly anymore, only 1080p. So I messed around with the settings a bit and now I have to choose hlg and then 4k from the list.

RE: YouTube - vichman - 2024-11-10

Hello,

After replacing my 'old' Raspberry Pi4and setting up my 'new' Raspberry Pi5 (either with LibreElec r12 - Kodi 21 orLibreElec r11 - Kodi 20), when trying to play any content from YouTube add-on i get the error 'unable to reproduce the playlist'. I only manage to solve the error by switching to add-on version 7.0.6.3 (I've tried version 7.0.9.2 and the new beta releases).

I think the error may be related to the fact that new RPi models rely on ARMV8 processor, while the old ones used ARMV7. Same applies to other addons not related to this forum.

This error is not seen on other hardware platforms (Ubuntu laptop, Windows PC, Android 12 & 13 devices).

Has anybody experienced the same issue?

RE: YouTube - superdesi - 2024-11-12

I am running the latest update from the official Kodi repo and not a single video on YouTube will play.

It was absolutely fine yesterday.

RE: YouTube - nycguy - 2024-11-12

Forgive me, for not understanding the exact names of the versions. I was asking which YouTube should I be using. There is the one from Kodi and then when I was talking about Beta foor five I was referring to the links that are on this forum for updated versions. I maintain YouTube for my uncle who is 82 years old. I have to troubleshoot over the phone with him because he lives far from me so I cannot provide a log. The error he gets every day is No stream found. He usually waits a half hour, and then it works. This seems to happen almost every day. I only asked about the versions cause I wasn’t sure if that was related to his issue. But seems whatever version I use, he has the same error. I understand you need a log, but I won’t be at his house for months. Is there anything you can tell me in this forum that could point me the right direction? Thank you

RE: YouTube - jonboyp1976 - 2024-11-13

V7.0.9.2 on Kodi Omega 21.1, Minix Neo n
NH8-X+

As of yesterday I cannot get any video to play. After I click on it I get the spinning 'wait' circle for a fraction of a second, then it vanishes, then nothing else happens.

If I try to play a playlist I get a quick flash of the 'wait' circle, then another, then another. One flash for each video on the playlist. No videos play, but no errors are reported.

Have re-started the hardware and checked for updates.

Anyone else?

There is no setting to specifically choose HLG HDR in this addon and I am not sure what list you are referring to. If you are having problems you can try
  1. updating to the latest stable release (currently v7.1.0.1) available here: https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube/releases/latest
  2. updating to the latest beta release available at the top of the list here: https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube/releases/

Otherwise, as always, a debug log is required to provide any further assistance. Instructions for producing a debug log can be found here: Log_file/Easy (wiki)

Not familiar with this error, it looks like a double translation. Regardless it is unlikely to be a problem related to the architecture of the processor/SoC used, but could be a timing dependent issue, so may be impacted by the speed of the device being used.

See above for a link to the latest beta version that you can try. Otherwise, if you need further assistance, post a debug log so that it can be looked into.

Try the latest beta version linked above.
