It seems the CCWGTV hardware is perfectly capable of doing the HDR->SDR realtime tonemapping conversion... Do you mean VLC on my Android phone is pulling the file from the network drive, tonemapping it and then sending it via cast to the CCwGTV? RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - Sjors125 - 2021-04-05 What is de best closing command for Kodi on my CCWGTV? I'm now using "quit" but it is taking ages. Is it at all necessary to close Kodi on my CCWGTV or is just pressing the home button on my remote OK too? And what about the CCWGTV itself? Do you leave it on? Use the powerbutton on its remote? Just pull the wallplug? I never had a chromecast before, so I really don't know what is best practice. RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - jeffski10 - 2021-04-05 I just use the power button on the remote as it shuts off my TV and amp as well. Never worry about shutting Kodi as such. RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - sirmedia - 2021-04-05 I just hit the Home button on the remote and then the Power button which turns off my TV and AVR via HDMI-CEC. RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - Sjors125 - 2021-04-05 @jeffski10 @sirmedia I don't use cec. And i use my ccwgtv for other apps like Netflix too So if i want to switch between for instance Kodi and Netflix or Disney I can push the home button, app button or first close Kodi, etc RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - AbRASiON - 2021-04-15 I have a really huge library of movies and tv, I think it might fill up the chromecast storage. Can I mount external storage with a USB dock and tell Kodi to store thumbnails and metadata on the USB stick? (Let's assume it's a good quality, reliable, fast USB stick in a good quality dock?) I moved the Thumbnails folder to a network share. It worked fine. One path substitution in advancedsettings.xml, and it was good to go. I would imagine SSH in is no longer viable anymore either? RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - Sjors125 - 2021-04-23 My Chromecast with Google TV is doing strange things, so I did a factory reset and only installed Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Kodi In Kodi, I only installed another scraper (Universal Movie Scraper) everything else in Kodi is standard
RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - Photopuppet - 2021-04-30 Looks like the new Google TV update from this week has some nice new HDR settings which will hopefully sort out the MediaCodec tone mapping problem to non-HDR TVs! Interesting tip to use SDR on LCD TVs. I have an average quality LCD, I should compare SDR vs HDR on it and not assume that HDR is better just because the TV supports it. RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - quacked - 2021-05-01 Hmm... I updated and now the only option on my non-HDR tv is SDR. Kodi still stutters on HDR stuff though. Suggestions? Yeah it sadly doesn't look like Google fixed that problem, even though from my research, the particular Amlogic chipset supports hardware tonemapping in the kernel and the option just needs to be exposed in the settings... Not sure why they don't do that 🥴 RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - Sjors125 - 2021-05-03 (2021-04-23, 00:22)Sjors125 Wrote: My Chromecast with Google TV is doing strange things, so I did a factory reset and only installed Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Kodi Anyone? How do I setup my CCGTV + Kodi so that it understands that I have a 4k Dolby Vision capable TV and a 4k Dolby Vision, HD Audio capable AV-receiver? And why CCGTV +Kodi can't play some movies that CCGTV + VLC has no problem with? |
