Something like that?

Weird, I haven't seen this problem yet... Is there any issue with buffering or network speed?ñ

I have the same issue with some 1080p videos. Some work fine though and 4k works so it's not a network issue.

Have you seen any patterns with the problem files, like codec types etc? I have the odd file like this and trying to see if there is any link between them with the encoding...

Chromecast with Android 12 update, Kodi 19.4, enabled frame rate matching both on the Chromecast and in Kodi but can't play a 4K HDR10 file, stutters and audio is out of sync. Plex running on the TV directly (LG WebOS) has no problem playing the file in HDR, so the file itself is good. Any settings I may be missing in Kodi? Could someone please summarize the state of HDR and DV in Kodi running on the Chromecast 4K and possibly on FireTV stick 4K?

Hi, i have two Chromecast 4k updated to android 12 and i have the same problem (sound delay) with all of them when i play any movie (hdr or sdr) on kodi 19.4 from my NAS (Dlna, SMB, Emby - no trancoding).
First chromecast is connected to LG C1 TV and the second to a Sony Oled TV.
If i disable "Allow passthrouth" in kodi 19.4, the video and audio it's on sync but then i don't have surround sound.(dd, dd+, etc.). On android 10 it was working fine. I made a factory reset after update on the first one but it's the same story - big sound delay. Any advice? Thank you!

Do we need a Kodi update/fixes for Chromecast with Android 12?

Quote:Kodi and Plex support frame rate matching but both are using an older API in Android that is not optimal for video streaming over the internet.

You are right, same playback problem even with 1080p SDR content: choppy video, audio out of sync. I tried disabling frame rate matching both on the Chromecast and Kodi and it doesn't help. Hopefully Kodi Nexus will make it all work, including frame rate switching.

That presumably is really related to seamless vs non-seamless frame-rate switching on newer TVs and a new API that allows it?  Or otherwise it refers to handling DASH/HLS stuff that drops from 50/59.94fps to 25/29.97fps as network connectivity channel conditions change (and if you have both 50 and 25/59.94 and 29.97 frame rates whitelisted you could get a re-sync?). The BBC iPlayer manifests have high-bitrate p50 and lower-bitrate p25 variations for example.  However for p23.976 content like most TV shows and movies on Netflix, Prime, Disney+ etc. I don't think there are different frame-rates - just different resolutions?

I can't think of any other reason that video frame rates and output source refresh rate switching would need to be different specifically for streaming?

At the end of the day I don't think most users care about frame rates and bitrates, they just want things to work and look good. The frame rate stuff is a total industry mess.

Without frame rate switching it won't look good.

Frame rate switching is a requirement resulting from global production and distribution.  You can't have a single global production standard whilst we all have different mains frequencies for lighting etc, unless we go for 300fps...

The industry mess is the lack of app support for existing APIs on both Android TV and Fire TV (the APIs have been there for a while to implement it - though ISTR that Google didn't implement them on the Android TV build that the Chromecast used to use).
Apple developers seem to have been better in this regard - most DRM streaming apps on tvOS do it using the tvOS APIs.  Certainly Netflix, Prime, Disney+ and Apple TV+ all switch properly on my ATV 4K, even though tvOS added the APIs after Android TV did ISTR.

Something like that?

I'm having this exact problem. The issue is present in the Plex app as well so something seem really broken.

Does anyone know how turn off HDR in Kodi on this device? It is already set to SDR only in the Android settings, but Kodi still switches to HDR mode when the source is HDR.

Yes, is the same problem ! Have you found any solution so far?

RE: "Google Chromecast with Google TV" dongle with a new "Google TV" ecosystem and UI - starkman - 2022-11-04

Hey all !
Does anyone know if there is any way we can enable Google TV's home screen to show our Kodi Smart Playlists just like we could with Android TV?
I don't see a "customize channels" option at my GCwGTV home screen settings.

Assuming this is addressed to me, no I haven't. `advancedsettings.xml` might have something, but I haven't ventured into that, nor found relevant documentation
