RE: Kodi 18.8.0 - Kodi fails to obtain images while scraping movies - Karellen - 2020-10-15

Notice:

metadata.common.themoviedb.org updated to 3.2.5 for Gotham and above is now available

You can...
1. Wait upto 24 hours for your repository and add-on to update automatically, assuming you have not disabled these settings
2. Go to Settings > Add-ons and force a repository update from the left sideblade menu by selecting Check for updates. You may need to wait until the update reaches the servers in your part of the world.
3. Download and install from zip from the following links...
  1. Gotham - http://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/gotham/metadata.common.themoviedb.org/

Note: This is not a scraper update. This updates a dependency add-on used by any XML scraper that accesses TheMovieDB

Thanks @olympia

RE: Kodi 18.8.0 - Kodi fails to obtain images while scraping movies - rossc719 - 2020-10-15

I suspect I must be missing something obvious, since it seems to be working for everyone else... but...
I downloaded 3.2.5, and used it to "Install from zip file".

And, the thumbnails are still failing to download with the same error message.
I have killed and restarted Kodi.
I'm running on Android on an NVidia Shield.

When I go to "Recently updated", and select "The Movie Database Scraper Library" at the top of the list, it shows "3.2.5 by Team Kodi".

When I go to "My Add-ons" -> "Information Providers" -> "Movie information" -> "The Movie Database" (or "Universal Movie Scraper") -> "Dependencies" -> "The Movie Database Scraper Library" *, then it shows "3.2.3 by Team Kodi".

It almost feels as though I have two versions of the same library installed at the same time?  (And that the scrapers are using the old one).

Am I just being a dope here?  Did I skip some step?

* in the list of dependencies it says "metadata.common.themoviedb.org 3.2.0 (installed".
From, this I am assuming that it has a dep for "at least" version 3.2.0, not that it specifically requires that exact version.

The problem is not yet fixed... They just updated the tmdb scraper..

I use Universal Scraper, so I have no use... will wait for a better fix

RE: Kodi 18.8.0 - Kodi fails to obtain images while scraping movies - Karellen - 2020-10-16

It seems to be a three prong fix.
  1. We have updated the scraper to make it more durable and try to workaround the current issue.
  2. TheMovieDB need to look at their system and caches... https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/5f8807a3a806730037404cbb
  3. Cloudflare need to look at what is causing the problem at their end. They believe they have fixed the problem... https://www.cloudflarestatus.com/incidents/3mhhz7fp3h5l

It looks like everybody has done their bit, but it may take up to 24 hours for all caches to clear and re-cache.

I never noticed that. But it looks like the listing of dependencies shows the original install version. But clicking on the dependency to open its information page shows the installed version.

I'll make inquiries whether that is expected. But you seem to have v3.2.5 installed. Always a good idea to restart also. I know when installing context item addons, they never show until after a restart.

The update to "3.2.5" fixed it - thanks.

FWIW, I feel like it is confusing to see three different version numbers for the same library!  I hope they decide it is a bug and change it.

I have tried restarting Kodi, and still no joy.
Should there be more to it that just installing 3.2.5 from that zip?
Do I need to switch scrapers (and back) to get it to refresh everything?
I'm running 18.8.0, if that matters.
I feel like I have a mostly vanilla install.  I have relatively few add-ons, etc..

Thanks

I tried and re-compiled curl with http2 disabled, did the trick. May create other problems, though.

RE: Kodi 18.8.0 - Kodi fails to obtain images while scraping movies - sksbir - 2020-10-16

Hello
Getting same problem here.
After force update of addons, I was able to manual update an entry and get it's artwork loaded. This was not the case before update of addons and I was still getting a blank artwork after manual update of an artwork.

Now, even following https://kodi.wiki/view/Artwork/Cache, that is delete the Textures13.db database and the thumbnail directory, only the entry that I manually updated AFTER addon update get it's thumbnail.

That is to mean that this addon update changes the way the url is created... but if url is already created before, nothing will change the url thus correct the problem for already created artworks

If I'm right, how can we now correct url of artworks created before last addon update? ( I'm using a mariadb database for library sharing)

Can you confirm from the log file that you’re running into the same issue with the same log lines?

Also, cam you confirm what version of the scraper add-on the log is picking up?  If Kodi is reading the updated scraper, you should see a log line similar to this:

2020-10-15 22:11:29.963 T:17208 NOTICE: ADDON: metadata.common.themoviedb.org v3.2.5 installed

RE: Kodi 18.8.0 - Kodi fails to obtain images while scraping movies - Crashtastic - 2020-10-16

I can confirm that posters and other images are now being populated during the scraping process for movies after updating metadata.common.themoviedb.org to v3.2.5.

Thanks to everyone involved for quickly identifying the issue and rolling out a fix as fast as you did.

RE: Kodi 18.8.0 - Kodi fails to obtain images while scraping movies - Karellen - 2020-10-16

Great, thanks for letting us know.

For others that are still having problems, we are still hoping that it be resolved within the next 16-24 hrs, depending on the feedback from TheMovieDB admins.

You do have the option of installing our newest TMDB scraper for TV Shows which remains unaffected by this issue... https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:TMDb_TV_Shows

And for movies our newest scraper... https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:The_Movie_Database_Python

Yep:  I still seem to have the same long lines, and yep, looks like it has the newest version.

Do I need to refresh everything?  Or is the missing art supposed to just load on demand now?

That’s strange.

For me, I did the update through “Settings” > “Add-ons” > “Check for Updates” on the left side menu.

It worked great for me.

Wondering if there’s a way to perhaps uninstall and re-install the scraper add-on?  Maybe that might fix the issue for you.

Sorry, but that’s the extent of my troubleshooting on the issue. Maybe someone else might have other thoughts on this.

RE: Kodi 18.8.0 - Kodi fails to obtain images while scraping movies - Karellen - 2020-10-16

@rossc719

Have you restarted Kodi after the update?

Where is it failing-
1. You have scraped a new movie/tv show and the artwork is not dowloading, or
2. You are trying to change artwork for an existing movie/tv show in your library?
