RE: HBO Max Add-on - R.O.H.3000 - 2020-12-17

I've just subscribed and also use the Shield Pro 2019. Once again awesome job with the add-on @matthuisman.  Thanks man!

And @nireshkhelawan:

I tested a bit but I'm having different issues:

1) No DD+ on the official HBO Max app on the Shield Pro 2019. Otherwise no video or audio issues with the official app on the Shield.

2) In Kodi: sound options seem mixed up. DD+ is wrongly shown as Stereo and good old DD is shown as DD+.

3) Random audio glitches and sometimes picture also pauses randomly. The issue may be connected to sound output but can't be too sure.

I have Dolby audio with official app

With the native app, when frame rate is matched with refresh rate I still see some judder but it’s really rare though. I have to glue my eyes to the screen to spot it t sometimes.

And I also have the audio issues like dropouts and the screen pauzes (in kodi) and then I hear the intro sound. But I only had that this morning now not anymore.

As for the kodi add on what tv are you using and what are your settings in kodi and your shield?

RE: HBO Max Add-on - matthuisman - 2020-12-17

@3000
The DD+ issue is in IA (see my post here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=358484&pid=2992478#pid2992478)
With my workaround, it should be

1st listed DD+ (eac3-256k) (selected by default)
2nd listed DD (ac3-384k)
3rd listed AAC 2.0 (aac-128k)
4th listed AAC 2.0 (heaac-64k)

I think I've seen #3 myself on my shield.
Definitely notice audio cutting out every so often.
I'll try investigate that!
Maybe this is the same "glitching" issue other user has

@nireshkhelawan
please enable Kodi "debug logging" and "component debugging > Libcurl"
Then restart Kodi and play HBO Movie (let me know which movie)
always use the same movie for testing / logs.
then get me a new log

RE: HBO Max Add-on - matthuisman - 2020-12-18

odd, seems its downloading 2x audio tracks....
ac3-384k.mp4 and eac3-256k.mp4
it should only download the track it's on..
its a clue!

However, I can't replicate on Windows...

For the stuttering, does it play smoothly if your tv is at 24fps?
If so, you could just do
xml:
<advancedsettings>
    <video>
        <adjustrefreshrate>
            <override>
                <fpsmin>23.97</fpsmin>
                 <fpsmax>24</fpsmax>
                 <refresh>24</refresh>
            </override>
           <fallback>
               <refresh>60.0</refresh>
         </fallback>
        </adjustrefreshrate>
    </video>
</advancedsettings>

just pushed update to slyguy common that removes the audio hack for HBO as think it may be causing issue.
Standard DD is now the 1st selected (shows as DD+)
Second is true DD+

Same judder if I set refresh rate manually to 24p or 23,98.

I played the movie with first dd track as my soundbar actuallly supports that format but still judder. I see the frame rate jumping between 23,4 24,4 and sometimes dips to 29,5 and 22,5 so weird.

RE: HBO Max Add-on - matthuisman - 2020-12-18

nothing more I can do my end unfortunately.

as for your log, resolution looks fine to me.
Search for "CAndroidUtils: SetNativeResolution"
In the gui, it's 59.94 then changes to 23.976025 for playback.
then back to 59.94 after playback stops

Yes I see. For some reason when I switch to AAC stereo there is way less judder.

HBO Max Add-on - nireshkhelawan - 2020-12-18

There is something really wrong about how hbo max add on handles the frames. Because it just looks off in every video I play. When I play the same movie or show i own myself in kodi the motion is way smoother.

I watch everything with motion interpolation off in the tv settings if you were wondering btw.

Even sync to display doesn’t help
Or setting the frame rate to 23.98 or 24 in kodi

The Disney add on does this much better but also not 100% like it should. Because once in a while I get judder. It’s hard to spot you have to look away once and you’d miss it.

RE: HBO Max Add-on - matthuisman - 2020-12-18

The addons dont do anything with frames. They simply pass kodi the manifest to play.

So then what can be the problem? I tried every setting and the judder is always the same.

I only see a difference in the amount of judder if I switch from Dolby to aac audio. It’s so weird..

Hello? any response on here? This thread is dead...

RE: HBO Max Add-on - matthuisman - 2020-12-21

stop spamming / thread bumping @nireshkhelawan
we don't all sit around 24/7 trying to fix your little issue
go use the official apps in the meantime

your also using a vpn, which is not supported.
I can't reproduce your issue either.
So, I can't help you.
