The first option I would choose for now. Even though this requires additional translation updates once we have a minimum iOS target of 13.0 or higher.

not quite sure what you mean by additional translation updates: once minimum iOS becomes 13 (or higher), the footer should simply be deleted as the setting will work for all supported OS versions.

regarding the minimum iOS, we could raise it to 12 to still support iPhone 6/6+ (all devices that can run 11 can also run 12). Don't see much reason to drop those devices tbh.

There is already a footer for the "Interface" setting group, stating that some settings require an app restart (https://abload.de/img/bildschirmfoto2022-104wig3.png). As far as I can see, I would need to add the iOS13-comment there. And you're right, deployment target iOS 13.0 would stop support for iPhone 6/6+ and few more iPad and iPod versions as well.

either add new option first + header or just use a separate settings group

I will find a way, should not be big blocker for this change.

This could work: https://abload.de/img/bildschirmfoto2022-10zwfzx.png
When minimum deployment is changed to iOS 13.0 only the "(iOS13+)" must be removed. This is manageable.

May I suggest changing the word Design to either Theme or Appearance?

Sure. As far as I can see "Theme" is also used in Kodi in this context.

Did never observe this under previous OS versions.
Edit: same for movies, videos etc.

Fun fact: I have other Apps on my iPad that suffer from similar wrong auto-rotation behavior since iPadOS 16, e.g. Sony Music Center.
Maybe it’s a bug in iPadOS rather than in the apps?

RE: Testflight access to beta version - Buschel - 2022-10-30

Could be. But for the remote app I can tell that the former code / configuration for supported orientations was buggy. Cleaning this up fixed the issue. Each new iOS version is opening up such issues, either caused by iOS or by incorrect implementation which was not having an impact before.

Just wanted to avoid that you spend valuable time on a bug that needs to be fixed elsewhere…

RE: Testflight access to beta version - Buschel - 2022-10-30

Appreciated Smile

Hi Buschel,

I’ve found a rather minor bug. It has to do with the keyboard you can bring up from the remote control button. I suspect it’s relatively easy to fix compared to the recent list of issues I reported.

This bug only manifests when accessing the remote control from the right hand pane when in the Now Playing screen. The full remote does not exhibit the same issue.

To reproduce:

Navigate to right pane remote.
Bring up the keyboard.
Swipe back to the Now Playing pane.

The keyboard is still visible.

Navigating back to the remote dismisses the keyboard.

To echo UlfSchmidt’s sentiment, thinking about the amount of work you must put in related to all the bug reports submitted here does occasionally give me pause on hitting the submit button. I don’t think it can be overstated how grateful us users are to have you maintaining this app and being so accepting of our feedback.

Well said!

Confirmed and fixed.

Thanks for supporting with the bug reports. I am not really able to test everything on my own, so your work helps improving the app. And it seems there is still plenty to do. Wink

RE: Testflight access to beta version - amasephy - 2022-11-01

Just want to add a note about a previously reported issue.

The one where an actively playing movie is missing box art from the now playing playlist depending on when it is viewed. I just experienced that again tonight.

Strangely, after playback was completed I opened the iPad app to check something and not only was the movie still in the playlist but now it had the box art. Not sure if that provides any clues related to this issue.

I have noticed other times where a recently played video lingers in the playlist after playback has been finished.

Edit: iPad issue.

The scrolling fan art. When you tap the movie clear art to bring up full screen scrolling fanart and then tap it again to dismiss the footer bar goes 100% transparent except the buttons themselves. It also appears that the fan art actually extends to the bottom of the screen instead of to the top of the footer bar.

Edit 2: Just tested light theme on iPhone and the TV shows list is broken there too. Same issue you noticed on iPad. It sure if you realized that. The symbol doesn’t overlap show but it’s all black instead of white so you can’t read anything.

Also I’m thinking the glyphs for movies, music, and photos in the now playing playlist (the three buttons to switch between playlist types) should be white instead of black in light theme to make them stand out more.

Overall it really seems like light mode needs a rather extensive overhaul. There’s just too much black background remnants that visually clash with white list items. In fact it seems like barely anything changes when switching to light mode. I suspect this is what @UlfSchmidt doesn’t like about the light theme.

Based on the statement that the themes rely on iOS system them I’m guessing the dark backgrounds that clash are app specific where as the stuff that actually toggles are standard Xcode components (the list item boxes) that actually pick up theme changes.
