Who knows, both Kodi and Exoplayer use the same proprietary decoder in hardware which we have no control over.

The 32 bits version works flawlessly in firestick 4k playing DV Mel Mkv.
This also happens in the Google Chromecast with Google TV. I was hoping that, due to the fact that GCGT does not have the hardware limits of the Firestick, also the DV Fel Mkv could be played but they dont or , as in Firestick, play for 1 or 2 secs and stop. The official Matrix together with the Yusesope version of exoplayer, play them flawlessly in GCGT.
Is there any reason that your version do not act as the official Matrix+yusesope exoplayer?
Many thanks.

Each device has it's unique naming scheme and details to trigger the correct decoder for DV.

I don't own the chromecast tv.

The shield part was mostly done on Kodi so I just added the mkv part which basically Lrusak wrote and I just put in the right place and quietvoid is the one who made it possible on FireStick.

So, basically, I just glued people's work together and did some small changes.

I'm saying this because even if I had the time - which I don't - had the chromecast tv - which I don't I might not have the skills to do it.

EDIT: wrote not wrong.

So I understand that there is no hope to get it right.

Well... It's open source, everything is available at github.
If someone that owns the chromecast tv decide to give this a try it might just be a matter of adding the correct decoder name.

Something like 5 lines of code.

The deal is, I once developed for a hardware that I did not own (HDR for AMD gpus).
It's just too much back and forth in the forums.

Not worth it.

Was it fixed, the weird thing with the Plex for Kodi add on, where changing subtitles, audio, or whatever, makes the entire video restart again? It's pretty annoying.

RE: Kodi Android build with support for Dolby Vision MKV - MMeirolas1 - 2021-05-08

Hello guys,

Since i got my new Server and am running Kodi 19, i'm literally going crazy. The question is where the problem is...

Details:

Kodi 19 HW: Shield TV Pro/ Fire TV Stick 4K.
Kodi Addons: latest version of Jellyfin.
Server HW: I5-8400T CPU + UHD 630 iGPU, 32Gb Ram, 500gb ssd, 3 NAS HDD (WD)
OS: Ubuntu Desktop 20.04
Software: Jellyfin Media Server 10.7.5, Syncthing Server, Caddy Reverse proxy.

The issue:

Kodi randomly exits to Shield/Fire TV Homescreen. Sometimes during a movie, but most of the times after the Jellyfin Addon welcome message.

Kodi log (crash happened at 10:14):
https://pastebin.com/EyacSzua

Part of the Jellyfin log:
https://pastebin.com/DhFSCcZY

sudo smartcrl status jellyfin output:
https://pastebin.com/umjsqWZV

Caddy reverse proxy Caddyfile:
https://pastebin.com/0ugmjvXz

sudo smartcrl status caddy:
https://pastebin.com/rsivMr1U

What i tried:
- going from Kodi 19DV to the official Kodi 19
- deleting all smb shares other than those needed by jellyfin
- trying different caddyfile setups
- trying different setting within the jellyfin addon

I had previously a Dell Desktop Server, running the same software and OS and Kodi 18, without issues.
Since i got the new server and Kodi 19 i have not been able to watch a single movie without it crashing 2/3 times.

The questions is: is it Kodi 19 or is it the server config?
At the Caddy forum they already told me that everything is set up correctly. On the Jellyfin Reddit forum they told me to do a few things (use JellyCon instead of Jellyfin Addon, don't add any other SMB Shares other then those for Jellyfin...) which didn't help...

I hope someone can take a look at it. Would be really thankful

Cheers

What is the point of the Jellyfin and Caddyfile complications?  I run a Win10 box with all my media accessible over SMB and a ShieldTV running this Kodi19 with DV.  No network issues and every file I have tried plays flawlessly.
I would suggest a more basic setup but again it seems clear you have network issues with your new server.

Hello

Thx for your reply

I need Jellyfin and Caddy to access from abroad, in which transcoding is needed.

I had the same setup working on Kodi 18.6 a few months ago. Don't know why it doesn't work reliably now...

I always get "websocket errors" so i suspect something network related:

```
The remote party closed the WebSocket connection without completing the close handshake
```

@fandangos : Any chance you'll have time for a new build based on 19.1, now that that is out? There are quite a few PVR fixes in that i could use Smile

RE: Kodi Android build with support for Dolby Vision MKV - sky.viewer42 - 2021-05-15

@fandangos When you have free time please, make build with v19.1 there's importante update about external hardrives bad naming (showing uuid of drive instead of regular normal name),
this was very annoying problem that didn't exist in v18.x. but also some other fixes, but the most important about hdd's. Thanks!

dolby vision - constantly caching/buffering kodi v19

I can stream 60gb with ease no buffering.
But any dobly vision format (DOVI). Iam facing
constant caching/buffering. Most of videos less than 20gb.

Any thoughts?

Maybe be able to add AML decoder support?
VIMU Player uses OMX.amlogic.dolby-vision.decoder.awesome
thanks
