It does not. 

I don't have time to keep any of the projects going anymore (mkv and bluray menu). 

It might be a good idea to remove the thread from stick and let Jogal or someone else to take on what is already present and improve on it.

I placed it in the userdata folder.  When I play a DV file I see the following messages:
External player active
Click "OK" when playback has ended

Nothing happens.  I also rebooted my Shield.
