The last time I tried it there were red artifacts.

Never had a problem and haven't even heard of this.

Hi Hitcher,

This was/is a known issue with DV rendering with the Nvidia Shield 2019 Pro.
I used a Shield Pro 11 months ago and it was really obvious on faces and the white/red/pink/purple solid colors.

I'd like to know if you have been using your Shield for a long time and watch Dolby Vision Profile 8 files regularly.

Random guy from the Nvidia forum said he solved it by setting 23.976 Hz in the main GUI for the Shield.
Any other testimonials on this subject?

Turns out trying NFS over SMB and thinking it improved things for me was a red herring. After I did more testing I concluded that the Nvidia Shield TV pro (at least 2019 version) works better over SMB than NFS so switched back to this instead.

On my ShieldTV Pro 19, I'm still running this Fandangos Matrix 19.0 but I've also loaded KN 19.4 (Maven's) and both have an issue where they don't properly Export the video files in Separate file mode.
In both versions they fail to create the .nfo files  The error message just says the file could not be written.

I still have the stock Kodi installed and it has no issue to create the .nfo files in the same locations.  Any ideas?

Is there a way to upgrade my existing KodiNerds Maven 19.3 to 19.4? I get frequent audio dropouts with Maven's 19.3 that I'm curious if upgrading to 19.4 would fix.

You can just download the latest Matrix build from here:

https://repo.kodinerds.net/index.php?action=list&scope=cat&item=Binary%20(arm64-v8a)

The 202203030027-de5ec50f build is actually Kodi Matrix 19.4.

Ok thanks. And just to be sure, this will update the current Maven instance? Not install a new instance or erase my current one?

I wonder about this. Somehow disney+ manages to (sometimes) enable DV on my 2015 shield.

Odd, you can easily check by looking at the video output options for Dolby Vision.

Because I was having problems with the given APK in the original post, I decided to download the apk straight from kodinerds. It works, but the icon is absolutely atrocious. Is there any way to get around this?

RE: Kodi Android build with support for Dolby Vision MKV - MrMagic - 2022-03-16

@hasharock First of all, the APK from this thread and the one from Maven are not the same. Maven's builds are far more current but still include the required changes to play Dolby Vision MKVs.

Second, "atrocious" is a bit strong for something minor such as the design of an icon. I mean it's not as if you're looking at it for hours on end each day. It's what I would call a first-world problem Smile

The icon was changed on purpose a little while ago at the request of users on the KodiNerds forum, in order to be able to see the difference in case you are running more than one Kodi build.

If you think you can do better, you can always post here (they don' mind if you post something in English):
