I don't think your media player is capable of sending a Dolby Vision signal to your TV. So even though your TV and Kodi both support DV, it won't work without a media player that also supports DV.

Indeed the product page for the NEO U9-H only mentions HDR10 whereas the newer devices explictly mention Dolby Vison.

https://minix.com.hk/products/neo-u9-h - mentions HDR10 only

https://minix.com.hk/products/neo-u22-xj - mentions HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision

@chrisssj2 I think that site is just plain wrong.

Like @jjd-uk already mentioned, the manufacturer's HK website only mentions HDR10.

Also, the US website does not mention DV either: https://www.minix.us/products/NEO-U9-H.html

Using 32bit build on it.
Which device are you running Kodi on? And which version of Kodi? Nexus Alpha or Matrix?

On my Shield Pro 2019 the 64-bit version does not have hiccups with DV MKV files. I'm currently running Maven's 20220922 build.

Only thing I did notice is that when resuming a movie instead of playing from the beginning, there is stuttering, but that can be fixed by jumping back 30 seconds.

EDIT:

I just tried Maven's 20220924 32-bit build on my Philips TV with Android and that works fine too.

To clarify all up. TCLc825 plays DV no hassle using maven builds. It was my failure as I was trying to play mp4 files. Found out that its not gonna work couple days ago 😜
All good! 😊

That is still a bit strange though. Regular Kodi builds (non-Maven) already support MP4 files with DV. On my Shield Pro 2019 this works without issues.

Must have something to do with your media player then Smile

Using matrix maven’s build, i noticed that mpeg2 tv channels are using software decoder. Is this ok, or i’m doing something wrong ?

RE: Kodi Android build with support for Dolby Vision MKV - Bigdrago - 2022-10-15

I am using Kodi Nexus alpha 3. But there is no DV support on this either. When will this be available?
Currently using Maven Nexus and DV is working fine.

Nexus cant connect to my manually added repos, is it because the repos dont support nexus?

Nvidia shield tv 2019 pro.

It's not going to make official v20 at the moment, as too much work is required to update ffmpeg for this. The only hope would be if someone was motivated to pick the necessary changes so a full ffmpeg update wasn't necessary, and submit those in isolation, however no one has yet shown any inclination to do this.

Hm? This has been sitting for a while: https://github.com/xbmc/FFmpeg/pull/24

Ok I wasn't aware of that. Not sure why there's been no activity around that, since we seem have have reached the conclusion that getting the ffmpeg 5.0 update would be too much work for v20.

How do I install that?

Hi quietvoid, do you have a release page for your Firestick nexus builds?
Thank you.

No I don't, just a download link.
Maven's builds should be pretty much the same.

RE: Kodi Android build with support for Dolby Vision MKV - jjd-uk - 2022-10-17

It seems there is now a possibility the update to ffmpeg 5.0 (which is the version containing the DV stuff) might happen for v20 as someone has been working on it. Doesn't mean it'll definitely happen as updating this late in release cycle will carry risk.
