There are 3 types of scrapers:
1) MetaScrapers (collect data from different sites): you can select them Settings -> Movies -> Scrapers - Data -> AdultScraper -> General settings -> MetaScraper options
2) MovieScrapers: you can select them Settings -> Movies -> Scrapers - Data -> AdultScraper -> General settings -> Movie settings -> Select enabled movie scrapers
3) VideoScrpares: they're autoselected by the full path of the video.

could you clarify 3) VideoScrpares: they're autoselected by the full path of the video. by autoselected, are you suggesting folders should be structured studio - movie/video folder name - files in order to take advantage of the autoselection?

You should have site name (eg: www.sitename.com) somewhere in either in the folder or file name. I found leaving the .com off if you put the site name in the file name works better because scraper tends to treat the .com as a separate word.
What I found works most of the time:
folder or parent folder = www.sitename.com
file = sitename - scenename.ext (no www. or .com)
or file = sitename - performername.ext
or file = sitename - releasedate.ext
You can optionally add (year) to the end of file name which can help narrow the results if there are too many.
If you don't get any hits or all are from incorrect sites try adding the www. to the file name first and then the .com if needed.
If you name the parent folder www.sitename.com you can usually get away with just using scenename.ext for file name but I prefer the longer file name. The important thing is that the sitename is included somewhere in the path, either, parent folder, folder or file name.

for some reason i cant get forced scraping to work at times. I have the filenames and even folders named exactly as the movie title but the title in ember always omits the episode number. example title 100.mp4 will result as a title in ember as Title (without the 100). whether i use folder as initial name or not. any ideas?

Do you have a workflow in mind for movies downloaded as split scenes? Has anyone managed to put maybe Scene 1 in the root directory and subsequent scenes into a Scenes subdirectory, in try to get Plex to unify them into a single listing? Any advice appreciated.

With those split scene downloads I use an external program to join the scenes into a single file before scraping. I'm running on Windows so it's easy to find file joining programs.

I'm just guessing but Ember may be thinking the number is the year since it is at the end of the file name so it strips it. Also because the number isn't really part of the title it might cause it to not find the title when searching and if it does it will omit the number since it's not part of the title as found on the website. Only a couple studios I know of actually include S1:E1 for example in the scene title. For those reasons I can't think of any other choice but to edit the title during the 'verify info' stage of scraping.

Thanks, Juan. I've heard of that solution, but am still hoping there's a process that might work for Plex without that overhead, and that might keep the advantage of ability to jump to desired scene.
Would love to hear if anyone has thoughts or experiences.

Sorry, I don't know anything about Plex. Kodi can handle multi part movies but I'm not sure about being able to jump from scene to scene. Playlists might be an option? I create chapters for my movies using a program called Music Media Helper. As it's name implies it was originally designed to split, join and manipulate concert videos but you can use it with any .mp4 or .mkv file. It has a really easy to use chapter creator as well as many other tools in it.

Regarding Ember / Plex options for movies split into parts or scenes, I see three general options:
- Use third-party tool to join parts
- Problem solved
- Joining can be a slow process, depending on tool
- Best tools?

- Plex will "stack" multiple video files together for sequential playback if they follow a naming convention (name - pt1; name - pt2, etc.)
- Not supported by all Plex clients (Fire stick has had problems)
- AFAICT, the only way to access part 4 directly is to scrub to the end of part 1 and watch playback switch to part 2, scrub to the end of part 2 and watch playback switch to part 3, etc. Not best.

- Use Ember to match each part (all to the same movie, or if possible to each scene) and put all the parts into a Plex collection
- Plex collections are great. Click on the collection tile to see all the collected items
- Unfortunately, Plex does not support nested collections.
- So if you're already collecting five movies in a series, you can't have one of those movies also be a collection for it's own scenes.

Personally, I use a video editor to merge files because of the flexibility it offers but that might be overkill for your requirements.
You could try Music Media Helper which can merge video files and create chapters in a single operation. Only problem is while it can import mp4 or mkv files it will only save the merged file as mkv (at least the version I'm using, newer versions might save as mp4 like the chapter editor does). That's great if you use mkv format but if you prefer mp4 format you need to convert them back to mp4 while preserving chapters. The only free converter I know for sure does that is HandBrake, although there may be others.
Other tools you could check are MP4.tool to join files quickly or MKVToolNix if you prefer mkv format.

Tried out Music Media Helper, thanks. Fast. And the auto-embed-chapter-marks when joining files is great. Turns out Plex supports chapter navigation (alt right-arrow; alt left-arrow), so this looks like a great solution for me.
