How to optimize color management mode in system setting? - Waterbottle23 - 2021-05-29

I’m using a htpc connected to a 4K projector.

If I enable color management mode, I see 3D lut file and icc profile.
I don’t have a 3D lut file so I chose icc profile.
Whn I click icc profile, it prompts to find the icc file(I suppose since it goes to the directories)
There is white point option D65standard or D93Japanese ntsc.
Under primaries, there are automatic, hdtv(bt.709), udhtv(bt.2020), sdtv(smpte c), ntsc 1953(bt.470m) etc.
Gamma mode bt.1886, input offset, output offset, absolute.
Lastly, a lookup table size.

How should we configure these options to get the most out of Kodi?

AFAIK you need either the icc profile file or the 3d lut file.
Color management won't work if you don't provide the former or the latter.
The vendor of your monitor or projector might provide the correct icc file on their support page.

Oic. I doubt tv/projector manufacturers provide the icc or lut file.
It’s all “user calibrated”.

You may find an ICC or ICM file on the display manufacturer’s website. Head to the download page for your specific display model on its manufacturer’s website. You may see a .ICC or .ICM file provided for download. You may also see a larger monitor driver package or a .zip file. If you download and extract that package, you may find a .ICC or .ICM file inside.

Performing a web search for the model name and number of your monitor along with “ICC” or “ICM” or “color profile” may find you a profile. For example, TFT Central maintains a database of ICC files for different displays.
