Help needed accessing share network drive. - buzzawak - 2021-09-04
I have a Xbox one with a fresh copy of KODI v18.9 Leia installed and can not access a network drive attached to my router which is a Netgear D6220.
I can access the drive using VLC player on the xbox no problem
I can also access the network drive from KODI installed on a Windows 10 PC.
I have enabled SMB in my-addons on the xbox
Not sure what to try next ?

A bit of an update I can connect via UPnP when I turn on the media server option in the router but that is not the end goal.

Your router seems to be new enough to support SMBv2 and higher. Check on which SMB version is current on your router. Kodi defaults to SMBv2 and not SMBv1. SMBv2 does require full credentials (username + password) as per Microsoft's specifications. Also, network browsing is disabled, so in Kodi you may have to create new network sources via the "Add network location..." option. Enter all details, and 'things should work' ™.
