VLC External Player Controls not showing up and not recognized - Grenoble87 - 2021-09-06
Hi everyone.
I'm brand new here and I'm sorry if this topic has been answered before, but I couldn't find a thread on this exact issue in the forum after a few days of searching.
I'm running Kodi v18.7 Leia on a Raspberry Pi 4B with the latest version of Raspbery Pi OS and I also have VLC installed at version 3.0.12.0. I also have a USB keyboard and USB remote connected which work fine for controlling both Kodi and the Raspberry Pi in general.
I was having trouble streaming HEVC files in Kodi default Video Player, so I set up VLC as an external player using PlayercoreFactory.xml. This worked great. Now HEVC files stream smoothly. However, whenever I use VLC as a player, no controls show up on the screen when I press a button on my remote and no button presses on either the remote or keyboard are recognized by VLC.
I went through VLC settings and set Global Hotkeys for my keyboard which works when playing VLC media normally, but when using VLC as an external player in Kodi, none of my hotkeys or other buttons are recognized. Essentially, I'm stuck watching the episode until it's over and closes automatically or until I force reboot my Raspberry Pi.
Are there certain settings I need to use to get controls to be recognized or a certain add-in that may help?
