Would you mind to share your Kodi sound decoding section configuration? currently in order to get 5.1 sounds need to enable the dd transcoding under passthrough section.
Also I am using the maven Dolby vision firetv Kodi, what version are you using?
I'm using Kodi Packer/5.1ch/Best Match for decoding. For passthrough Raw Packer/AC3, E-AC3, DTS.
Fire TV audio setting is Best Match.

Well that's interesting, i did try this but it stills the same, the Soundbar show me dd+2.0 I will just use the Kodi AC3 transcoding for the truehd down mixing. Good enough for the bedroom 😜

I upgraded to Fire TV Stick 4K Max from Fire TV Stick 4K 3 weeks ago and ran into an annoying problem: Kodi randomly loses visibility of NAS on my home LAN. When this happens, overall network access is still fine, I can browse the internet and stream Netflix/PrimeVideo, also the old stick can still see the NAS contents.

The following appears in Kodi log: INFO<general>: Sambas is idle. Closing the remaining connections

Forced shutdown of Kodi, clearing its cache and restarting it doesn't help - but the reboot of the stick fixes the problem (till the next connection loss).

I’ve got both FireTV and Standard versions of Maverns DV Master builds installed on my FireStick 4K Max.

The FireStick version plays TrueHD sound tracks in 2.0 channel DD+,
The standard version plays them in 5.1 channel DD+

Checked in my Denon Amps app.

To which "standard version" are you referring, which link?

The one that’s not called “Master-FireTV” Wink

It’s just called “Master”

Links are on the first page of Maverns thread

Hi, would you give a link please ?

EDIT ok you are talking about that I guess.

No, I presume this the proper place to look, and this is the version of interest

RE: 2021 - Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max - hdmkv - 2022-01-20

Possible to play HDR10+ local content, whether via Kodi or an external player app?

RE: 2021 - Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max - Slickric21 - 2022-01-21

I just get a black screen on HDR10+ adaptive files on both Kodi and Vimu player.

Only type of mkv files it can’t play.

Have to use my TVs inbuilt media player for these files (Philips 2021 OLED)

RE: 2021 - Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max - hdmkv - 2022-01-21

Thanks. I know AMLogic devices w/S905X3 & S922X play HDR10+ via CoreELEC, but was trying to see if what I already have connected to my Samsung TV (Fire Stick Max) would first.

RE: 2021 - Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max - jdunbar8 - 2022-01-25

Is there any chance the 4k Max might support passthrough of Dolby Thrue HD anytime soon? As there is no encoding necessary as it is 1:1 passed via HDMI there shouldn't be any license problems or other stuff?

RE: 2021 - Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max - hdmkv - 2022-01-25

No FTV devices have supported HD audio passthrough to date (for local/NAS content). Don't think this will change.

You never know what can happen with more development.

RE: 2021 - Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max - tomek - 2022-02-02

Hi, I have a small issue with my unit and didn't find anything similar in the forum.

I installed latest (19.3) Kodi from their download page on Fire TV Stick 4K Max

Problem 1:
Unless "Match original framerate" is selected in device Settings I only get 3 resolutions / framerates to choose: 1080p / 60, 59.94, 50Hz
Of course it requires Resolution setting to be set to Auto which keeps the device at 60Hz resulting in juddering in European YT videos for example

Problem 2:
If "Match original framerate" is on when starting a video in 24Hz (Netflix) I get a video with dropped frames every 41s. This problem doesn't appear if I turn off "Match original framerate" after turning on Kodi. But it's iritating to have to do that every time.

I checked the logs both of Kodi and the device and it looks to me like there's an additional layer between Kodi and display manager in Android that is made by Amazon and is only active when "Match original framerate", called "cinema_mode" in adb global settings is turned on. Then Kodi turning on gets all available resolutions and framerates but the layer is causing stuttering with 24Hz playback, probably plays it at 23.976 and has to skip a frame every 41s to match sound output. In Android logs when starting playback I get an error of "input device id 4 unavailable" or sth like that.

That error doesn't appear when that option is turned off.

Is there any additional options I should select in Kodi (maybe sth in advancedsettings or using external player?) to make Kodi speak directly with Android display manager and not having to constantly select and deselect some settings for a smooth playback?
Does anyone have similar observations and better solutions?

For instance it would be awesome if Kodi could execute a simple adb command after startup that disables the cinema_mode. And execute another one to turn it back on when quitting.

Thanks

Sorry, I'm a little late here.

@618116  @Slickric21 @Sholander   am I reading your back and forths  around post 90-95 to be that  there is a Kodi version that passes through DTS,  and for TrueHD it passes 5.1?   if so which version?
