Merge same TV-Show from multiple NAS sources - gotham2014 - 2021-10-05

Hi,

I cant find a way to resolve this issue. Because of space limitation, there are multiple NAS drives with TV-Shows and in some cases some TV-Shows are on multiple NAS sources.

This causes the TV-Show to appear multiple times in the Kodi Library. Is there a way that will pull the TV-Show from multiple source and show-up as one in the library?

As a side note, MySQL is used to manage all of the media and no NAS source has duplicate episodes or season folders.

Hope there is a solution for this.

Thanks

Yes, that should happen by default. If it does not, then there is a difference in the folder names, or a difference between the way you have named the episodes.

How are you adding to the library- scraper or nfo files?

Thanks for getting back to me @Karellen.

I checked the naming, but it looks to me that both NAS drives have the same naming structure. See attached screenshots. Even the nfo files are the same.

The process I use:

* After using Sonarr, emby is used to manage all of the media library data.
* After the new episode or series is indexed, I have KODI use the local nfo scrapper and populate the mysql database.

Yep, looks like they are, so that is not the problem.

Can't see the full nfo file, and seem to be identical... but you have no UniqueID's in the nfo file, which most likely is the problem as Kodi cannot match on ID's.

RE: Merge same TV-Show from multiple NAS sources - gotham2014 - 2021-10-06

Hi, What ID are you referring to. Both imdb_id and tmbdid are the same. Would kodi not match on these? Not sure I understand what the issue is you are describing. :-)

These...

xml:
<uniqueid type="imdb">tt10574558</uniqueid>
<uniqueid type="tmdb" default="true">97400</uniqueid>
<uniqueid type="tvdb">367226</uniqueid>

Which makes your nfo files not fully compatible with Kodi.

RE: Merge same TV-Show from multiple NAS sources - gotham2014 - 2021-10-07

Ok, maybe this is because emby made the old TV-Show nfo file and Sonarr the new one.

Can you tell me what code I need to add to both nfo files so that kodi will ID them as being the same. Than I will manually add this section of code to the nfo files for the particular TV-Shows involved.. :-)

Add one or all of them. Best to add IMDB as the default=true. Look up the id's online at the sites. Its in the url address bar.

But if all your nfo files are like that, then your library is already corrupt. Chances are it will eventually break and many of your episodes from different tv shows will combine into one tv show.

RE: Merge same TV-Show from multiple NAS sources - gotham2014 - 2021-10-07

Ah ok, so I would make sure the nfo files would consist of something like this:
Quote:<uniqueid type="imdb" default="true">tt10574558</uniqueid>
<uniqueid type="tmdb">97400</uniqueid>
<uniqueid type="tvdb">367226</uniqueid>
With the imdb set as default?

Yep, that is it. Add that to the nfo file in one folder. Then copy that nfo file across to the other folder and Kodi should then be able to match them up.

Your episode files need those ID's also.

If the episodes don't have the ID's, then don't waste your time adding them. Delete your non-compatible nfo files, and let Kodi scrape them into the library.

Thanks will give it a try!

Sonarr's Kodi support / integration has been suspect for some time, especially with NFO creation. Actor artwork download will probably not work if you allow Sonarr's Kodi metadata integration either. Allow Sonarr to name / rename your files but disable the Kodi integration with regards NFO generation - at least, and once your library is up to date, export your video library as separate files (skipping artwork export) and let Kodi's library export process create the NFOs. You can keep the artwork aspects of the integration enabled if you want Sonarr to generate episode thumbs and the like, but it's NFO formatting isn't completely compatible with recent versions of Kodi as far as I can tell, and hasn't been for some time.
