RE: Kodi on LG Web OS - tom_7226 - 2024-08-06

Hi, I have tested a few nightlies on:

LG G4 65 inch Software version: 03.11.05

org.xbmc.kodi_20240802-f6265c87-master_arm
org.xbmc.kodi_20240804-69d56147-master_arm
org.xbmc.kodi_20240629-5810c325-master_arm

Issues:

- cracking sound when using forward and rewind + audio needs to catch up for a second or two
- DTS and DTS-HD sound with delay approx 250-300ms - nothing I could change to fix that; DD and DDP work perfectly fine; workaround for now I assume is setting channels to 2.0 and enable DD transcoding which results with no audio delay but we don't get DTS and DTS-HD of course
- one DV .mkv file:

Format profile :Main 10@L5@Main
HDR format Big Grinolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.08.07, BL+RPU, HDR10 compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible
Codec ID :V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC
Width :3 840 pixels
Height :2 160 pixels
Display aspect ratio :16:9
Frame rate mode :Constant
Frame rate :25.000 FPS
Color space :YUV
Chroma subsampling :4:2:0 (Type 2)
Bit depth :10 bits
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) :0.065
Stream size :4.02 GiB (94%)
Default :Yes
Forced :No
Color range :Limited
Color primaries :BT.2020
Transfer characteristics TongueQ
Matrix coefficients :BT.2020 non-constant
Mastering display color primaries Big Grinisplay P3
Mastering display luminance :min: 0.0001 cd/m2, max: 1000 cd/m2
Maximum Content Light Level :1077 cd/m2
Maximum Frame-Average Light Level :547 cd/m2

results in no video played (just black screen) with sound

- and the final, most important, no TrueHD so far. And here comes the question - do I understand it correctly that we will never get TrueHD (with or without Atmos) passthrough as LG doesn't allow 3rd party apps to passtrough TrueHD audio. Is that correct?

Thanks.

RE: Kodi on LG Web OS - vorch - 2024-08-18

My Kodi install just went poof because dev mode turned off for no reason (I just renewed my dev mode session recently and there wasn't any firmware updates after I used Kodi last time, go figure), so I decided to try the latest night build, org.xbmc.kodi_20240812-b2abd741-master_arm.ipk, and it seems they fixed audio/video sync. Got the perfect sync w/both dolby ac3/atmos and DTS-HD tracks when using wired headphones. Although now there's incorrectable delay when using BT headphones, but I can live with wired ones.

RE: Kodi on LG Web OS - lukish - 2024-08-18

Hi everyone,
I have 2018 model of LG TV with WebOS - model 55UK6470PLC.
I managed to install KODI, but I can't install any Add-on. It always ends up with "Installation Failed" even thou I allowed installation from unknown sources.
Any suggestion how to resolve?
The most of all I need to install SCC add-on.

RE: Kodi on LG Web OS - tom_7226 - 2024-08-19

Hi, LG G4 65 inch Software version: 03.11.05

org.xbmc.kodi_20240812 nightly

DTS and DTS-HD are better now. DTS-X (DTS-HD variant) though still has issues - sound breaks every few moments and comes back.
Do I understand correctly that we will never get TrueHD (with or without Atmos) passthrough as LG doesn't allow 3rd party apps to passtrough TrueHD audio?

RE: Kodi on LG Web OS - Javalsta - 2024-08-21

Hello. Just wanted to point out my way of fixing this issue.

1: Reset all audio and video settings.
2: Ensure passthrough is disabled
3: Set delay to -275
4: Enable passthrough
4: Disable passthrough.

Its annoying as kodi doesnt keep the delay unless I reenable passthrough and disable it again.
No idea why this is happening or how to get a perm fix, But if anyone knows please respond.

As setting up kodi for parents, and switching inputs to a chromecast is difficult for them, using Kodi directly as an app they know how to do.

RE: Kodi on LG Web OS - Sasese - 2024-08-21

There are issues of zooming problem of BDrip files?

Solving of problem)

RE: Kodi on LG Web OS - Alvmes - 2024-08-27

I´m experiencing the same error, even if I´ve unistalled every other app to free some space. How much space is needed? I´m over 600mb of free space.

RE: Kodi on LG Web OS - Goulmort - 2024-09-19

Hello folks. First let me say thank you to all kodi developers for hard and continuous work.

I was using kodi on LG C2 for about week or two then i stumbled upon a problem. Streaming apps started getting hiccups like internet connecton is the problem or even tv itself is lagging. After some investigation i have found out kodi is generating .core files in root file folder. Files are around 300-500MB, sometimes more. Over time i got couple of this files taking almost all available space on tv.
Solution: deleted them. Now everything works fine.

So if this somehow can be implemented into kodi to periodically delete this files it maybe worth looking into it.
Kodi build is: 22.0-ALPHA1 (21.90.700)

Hi, it's an easy fix. Just install an addon from github: Core-remove-kodi. It will delete the core file everytime you open Kodi.
