The HDR10+ workaround works for most files but it's not 100%. Can always try the file here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=371557&pid=3161452#pid3161452 RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - DobbyHD - 2023-08-08 Thanks for all your work, this is great I can finally watch my movies in DV on my PX1-Pro! Plex wouldn't trigger DV so this is perfect. However I noticed that some of my BR-rips (makeMkv) with DV do not trigger it with your build either. Worse, they don't even fallback to HDR. My copy from Alita - Battleangle works perfect but for example Top Gun Maverick only plays in SDR.. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - frodo19 - 2023-08-09 Hi quietvoid, first thanks for your work on this. Is it possible to set a priority in the kodi? For example, if you have both dv and HDR10+, then DV is preferred, and the other one is switched off at the beginning of the current movie, then switched back on. thx RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - quietvoid - 2023-08-09 (2023-08-09, 07:47)frodo19 Wrote: Is it possible to set a priority in the kodi? RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - Nuklear92 - 2023-08-09 @quietvoid Is this feature ever going to be merged into the official Kodi nightly builds? I mean, last time I saw on GitHub most of the devs were fine with the feature and asked you change some lines in the commits, etc. But in the end I didn’t saw a lot of opposition to this feature after you complied with their requests. Are they still thinking about it to get it merged, or still waiting for something to be changed or modified in the commits? 🤔 RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - quietvoid - 2023-08-09 (2023-08-09, 14:46)Nuklear92 Wrote: @quietvoid Is this feature ever going to be merged into the official Kodi nightly builds? Can't really answer this, it'll take the time it takes but there doesn't seem to be strong opposition to it. Cool, that’s all I needed to know. I’ll keep waiting, hopefully it will get merged sometime in the near future. 👍 RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - kurononeko - 2023-08-13 Hiya @quietvoid. Been using this build for quite some time, updating it constantly but at one point (I believe when the option to disable HDR10+ was introduced) it stopped rendering the video correctly. Disabling the HDR10+ in options changes nothing - when the video is being played, the TV overlay says the stream is HDR10+ and people's faces look like rendered in 8 bits, same as it was when I was discussing similar matter here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=372249&pid=3143209#pid3143209 I do not experience other issues like folks here do (black screens and the like) and I'd like to try playing that on older build and then maybe provide some debug info, but I can't find it on github. Are those deliberately hidden? RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - quietvoid - 2023-08-14 (2023-08-13, 22:12)kurononeko Wrote: Hiya @quietvoid. I don't keep old builds but they worked the same as before. The HDR10+ ignore isn't 100% so maybe it's your files, unless you tested on videos where it worked before. Anyways I'm not sure, nothing has changed for me it all works the same and I see no reason why it wouldn't work. RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - kurononeko - 2023-08-14 I was under the impression that the version from like 2-3 months ago worked well but once I've updated it, things stopped working properly. I want to be sure though, so that's why I asked about older builds. Certainly it looks like the hdr10+ isn't disabled and that's the root of the problem, just wanted to trace if maybe newer builds behave differently than older ones. Either way, will providing the info from the file do any good here? Like: is that function considered "final/complete" for now or bug reports are accepted. RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - quietvoid - 2023-08-14 I just had a look at the code and something did change.. the newer builds now only remove HDR10+ for profile 7 Dolby Vision files. And the only file I've been testing is profile 7. I should probably make myself a profile 8 copy. There shouldn't be a condition on Dolby Vision when removing HDR10+. I guess it happened when I updated the upstream PR and I didn't notice. I'll try fixing it tomorrow. Haven't yet been able to test the profile 7 file you have been using. I'll try it with the fixed build along with the other files I'm testing. Glad to hear you found the cause. RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - quietvoid - 2023-08-15 I've uploaded new builds that should be fixed to remove HDR10+ when the file has no Dolby VIsion or profile 8. RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - Adam1V - 2023-08-15 Hi, I’m just ordered a new Nvidia shield pro and I’m looking to tinkering around with Kodi that has DV support. I’m new to installing Kodi forks but not new to Kodi. I understood the Kodi nightly builds supported DV so I just wondered what the main differences was between using a nightly and the build in this thread? Thanks |
