Did you actually read the first post of this thread?

Yes, but I’m just trying to wrap my head around it. Apologies this is new to me.
If it’s based off Kodi Master, is that a nightly build?

I’m just ordered a new Nvidia shield pro and I’m looking to tinkering around with Kodi that has DV support.
I’m new to installing Kodi forks but not new to Kodi.

I understood the Kodi nightly builds supported DV so I just wondered what the main differences was between using a nightly and the build in this thread? Thanks

For Shield almost not need this fork because Shield is able to play (at least) DV profiles 5, 7, 8. Also NOT has issues with files DV + HDR10+.

Then is fine for you use latest v21 nightly:

I may have missed a post about the LG B7T not being supported or perhaps some other settings in TV or stick that need adjusting. If not, I hope this information helps somehow. I'm happy to provide any other information if required.

New build works for the test files and TV mentioned above. Thank you!

Just tested the new build. I can also confirm that currently videos look perfectly fine. Thanks Smile

It would be useful if someone properly enables the debugging with the steps here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=371987

Otherwise please share a small sample that doesn't work anymore.
All my files still play correctly with the latest build.
With last week's latest release, all problems with HDR10+ are gone with my firestick 4k Max!! Thank you so much Quietvoid.

I downloaded and installed the lastest release at https://github.com/quietvoid/xbmc/releases/tag/v21-dovi for 32bit device

I can see the setting to choose between HDR10+ and Dolby Vision playback and it works with my Fire stick 4K max.

But I can't see the setting makes Kodi convert Dolby Vision profile 7 files into profile 8.1.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

The setting is now only visible if the display supports Dolby Vision (as detected by the OS).
I'm not sure if it has negative implications.

It's only useful for profile 7 which has HDR10 fallback, so if your display doesn't support Dolby Vision you can disable it to avoid FEL blank screens.

Perfect, I just wanted to make sure I installed it correctly. Everything is great

Thanks for hard work put into this!

I have a strange issue with source being to slow to playback high bit rate files.  I am using a firestick 4k Max and wifi6 and speed to my PC is about 400mbit/sec.

I can run the same files via PLEX with native playback no problems, but Kodi stutters.

Example this test file https://4kmedia.org/sony-swordsmith-hdr-uhd-4k-demo/

Anyone else have any issues like this?

Plays perfectly on my Gen 3 Cube over ethernet.

No worries , I don't know what's going on with my android setups.

I can get double the speed from my android devices to my PC, than from my PC to android devices.

All PCs, Mecool box on librelec are all fast no issues.

RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - quietvoid - 2023-09-08

Kodi Omega Alpha 3 was released, so I'll update the builds sometime today.
In other news, the Dolby Vision compatibility mode is now merged upstream, so this build isn't necessary anymore for that.

It'll just be the changes that allow choosing which dynamic HDR metadata formats to allow.
