Thanks for the excellent work now my firetv 4K max now finally able to play some dovi file again. Oddly only the second change which disabled the hdr10+ do the trick

Now I'm able to play videos with DV + HDR10+ on the same file. Before this I always get a black screen.
Will it be merged on the master branch?

No.
Choosing which dynamic HDR metadata formats to allow, not merged.
Without that, on the players, whitch dont have the dv or Hdr format selection in the settings, will be black screen in combined mkv.

Does anyone have the new 2nd Generation Fire Stick Max on preorder? Should be shipping soon. Can't wait to find out if the DV issues will be fixed in this one without running a Pre-release Build.
16GB storage and support for HD/object-based audio (“Dolby MAT, Dolby TrueHD pass-through, MPEG-H pass-through, DTS HD pass-through”
Sounds similar to the Cube in specs for a lower price.

Yes, mine ships on the 27th.
I won't be able to test lossless audio, just Dolby Vision.

well that 4k max second gen looks promising. if the hd passthrough works as the same as the cube 3.gen then will be the perfect firetv ever. at blackfriday it might go down to 49 euro, finger cross xD

Nothing has changed on the HDR10+ and Dolby Vision issues with the new 4K Max 2nd gen (2023).
Dolby Vision profile 7 FEL still shows a blank screen. And files with both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision still do the same.
On the audio side, I don't know what the old model showed.
But I get all toggles for both TrueHD and DTS-HD with the Kodi IEC packer. It's intermittently unavailable but a reboot makes it show up again, not sure what's up with that.
And allowing DTS-HD passthrough gives me an audio unsupported error on my TV (doesn't support DTS).
Can't really test if it's working correctly.
Unfortunately Android 11 made it hard to access the Kodi data and I couldn't get it to work with xbmc_env.properties and a different path either.
Maybe someone will come up with a way.

It looks like Kodi has been sandboxed
I received my new 4K MAX last night. Same problem with accessing '/sdcard/Android/data/*'

we'll see - everyone seems to have a claim that you cannot access but then it turns out they are just not using developer methods

On Android TV go to Settings -> Apps -> Kodi -> Permissions -> Files and Media and select Allow all the time. Then reopen Kodi.
Kodi should now find the xbmc_env.properties file on startup.

On FireOS there's no option to allow all the time. It's just a toggle between Allow and Deny.
When in Kodi it can access /storage/emulated/0, which is /sdcard. But even with xbmc_env.properties in there it did not work.
