RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - hyena72 - 2023-10-18 Heheh it's look like we misunderstood the "artist" RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - Sholander - 2023-10-18 F*ck.., I'm getting to old RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - hyena72 - 2023-10-19 Otherwise if you interested you change the existing boot logo to any kind of picture with the guidance this below: (all credit goes to my fellow forum mate "gyűrű" ) in the X-plore you should allow the display of the hidden files make a directory to : /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi.quietvoid/files/.kodi/ copy there the requested boot logo which should be .png format and the name of that must be splash.png resolution 1920*1080 you should see this: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi.quietvoid/files/.kodi/media/splash.png For example if you want also you can use this one boot logo RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - Sholander - 2023-10-19 Tnx, works for me; starting Kodi doesn't frighten me any more RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - KaySees - 2023-10-20 Just downloaded the Beta 1 build from Post#1 and try it out on a FireTV Stick 4K Max connected to a Vizio 4K TV that supports Dolby Vision/HDR 10/HDR 10+, try playing the test clip from the samples page (Hybrid HDR10+ with Dolby Vision Sample (in MKV with TrueHD 5.1 audio), and it's only showing a magenta screen, with or without the DV compatibility settings being on or off. If I turned off the Hardware acceleration for Mediacodec (Surface), then it plays, however, the image is a washed. The same clip plays OK on MX Player, with the difference being MX Player doesn't support DV, so, it plays fine with HDR 10+. This same situation seems to be consistent with "hybrid" video files with DV and HDR 10+. Files with pure DV plays fine. It looks like it's not telling the system to switch to HDR mode, is there anyway to have this file as a bug or have someone give me a pointer to correct this behavior? I've tried setting the FireTV Stick to HDR on always, and it will play, but the image would shift to the left (wrapped around) for about 25% of the screen, so that won't fit the bill either. Did you disable HDR 10+ in Player/Video Settings to get DV? That's how it's supposed to work on FS4K. On my FS4K when I choose only DV it plays DV, but if I choose HDR 10+ then it plays in HDR 10+. If both are enabled, then .mkv with both layers present does not display any picture... RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - KaySees - 2023-10-20 Thanks so much for the quick answer, that did the trick. All the previously problematic files are playing fine now. I just visited the nightly, and this doesn't seems to have been merged, any words in when would this be merged into the nightly builds? Thanks a million! RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - kadajawi - 2023-10-27 I've been trying to figure out if the combination of Shield TV (2019) + this Kodi build + a Samsung TV that does HDR10+ and HDR10 but no DV will work. Should I be able to play back DV profile 5 files properly? Ok, found it on page 17. Not going to work... that's too bad. MPV (on Windows at least) is able to playback profile 5 properly on non-DV TVs. RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - rajivaryan1984 - 2023-10-28 Any help please how to install this on my Nvidia 4k Shield and where can I go and slect between HDR10 annd DV. Please advise... RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - Sholander - 2023-10-28 How about reading the first post? RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - isabido - 2023-11-23 @quietvoid Thank you very much for this great work. I am with a Firetv 4K MAX (gen1) and I am able to play a mkv with Codec: MpegH HEVC [email protected] (dvhe.07.06 BL+FEL+RPU). At least it plays and the Dolby Vision sign appears on the television. The question is whether it is being reproduced correctly as if it were a MEL. Since I have tested the FEL_test.mkv which can be found at this link. https://mega.nz/folder/drYRlALT#fbRfBAdVE88fmoLdXoAVJQ It is assumed that if the FEL layer is reproduced the letters from the credits of the Power Rangers movie should look WHITE. And in my case they look GRAY. Would this be the expected behavior? In theory, if I convert an FEL profile 7 to a Profile 8, the letters of the Power Rangers credits should be seen in WHITE. Thanks again for your time! Did you read the first post? Clearly stated. "The setting also ignores the enhancement layer, so it does not get sent to the decoder." 2. Even though you use other apps such as Nova player, your device (Firestick 4K MAX) cannot decode FEL due to the lack of 2nd hevc decoder. Thanks for the clarification, my English is very bad and I don't know if I had expressed myself correctly. I know that it will not be able to reproduce two hevcs, but I thought that what this mod would do was transform a P7 (BL+FEL) to a P8 that would be like a MEL. Now I know that ONLY IGNORE does not TRANSFORM. So what are we seeing? an invented HDR? On the other hand, I had read that a Chromecast 4K GoogleTV could play a MKV P7 (BL+FEL). I have bought a unit and this is not the case, at least in my case, I have tried KODI (quietvoid / official version), Jellyfin, Plex and Emby. In some test tracks it appears incorrectly with green or red colors, and the chromecast ends up resetting. Thanks again for your time. RE: Build - Dolby Vision compatibility/quality improvements - xsim75 - 2023-11-27 In the meantime, thanks for this build! Can I ask to recompile everything with last v21 Nightly? They added the ability to change cache options directly from the GUI (services in expert mode), really useful for 4K streaming via WiFi LAN. Thank you.
