Do you know if the Shield still has the Red Push issue? Asking since you found the Fire TV to not have the ST2084 tracking issues described by RESET_9999.
I just wish someone could write some custom firmware for a readily available device, that a version of modern/maintained version of Kodi could come out for Realtek 1619DR devices, or that OSMC would release a Vero 4K++ already with DoVi P8.1 support.
Yes, unfortunately the Shield still has the red push issue, it looks like Nvidia is never going to fix it, that’s why I also own a Zidoo Z9X. There is ZDMC for the Zidoo devices which calls the internal player for playback. They have t updated it to Nexus yet.

You can also remove the FireTV Cube specific Build again, as his lastest fix from Fritsch is now included in Kodi.

I'm going to do a build on top of Omega Alpha 2 and will be removing older versions as well as the FTV Cube specific build.

The build has been updated to Kodi v21 Omega Alpha 2: https://github.com/quietvoid/xbmc/releases/tag/v21-dovi
From this point on I'll probably be only updating on releases.

Hey quietvoid, great work. With the P7 to P8 conversion setting turned on, does seek/fast-forward/rewind work for you?
I tried it on a ccwgtv because while it does play P7 natively it has issues with seeking.
With your kodi build and the P7 to P8 conversion it does play, but seeking still doesn't quite work. The audio keeps playing but the video freezes most of the time.

I tested the Kodi v21 Omega Alpha 2 build on my FireTV Cube Gen3, set to HDR Adaptive.
The P7 to P8 conversion setting works quite well for DV P7 Blu-ray Remuxes, but a particular Movie has dropouts (Screen goes black for a second and then my LG Oled TV recognizes the content again as Dolby Vision).
This behaviour can be reproduced, it happens always at the same spot in the Movie. With conversion setting disabled Kodi switched back to HDR10 playback with no dropouts.
My Shield TV Pro does not have any issues with DV playback of that Spot in the Movie, even with The P7 to P8 conversion setting activated.

@quietvoid I’m new to this thread and I downloaded and using the latest build based of Omega Alpha 2.
I have couple of questions, first one does doing this conversation from P7 to P8 have any noticeable visual degradation in the Dolby Vision when watching Remux UHD files?
Secondly, does this conversion only works with Remux files that are downloaded locally or the conversion can happen if you’re streaming a Remux file from a Debrid service?
Lastly, is there any way to know if the feature is working or not? I have it turned ON and I’ve seen some DV Remux UHD files. However, I have no clue if there was a conversion or not. Only that the playback didn’t have any skips, etc. 🤔

Yeah, but that’s not exactly what I meant. I meant if the feature works when you’re streaming a file, or only when playing locally from a HDD, etc?

Thanks, I guess if it works for streaming with Plex I don’t think it would be any different with any other type of streaming servers. Is this feature coming eventually to the official Kodi Omega?

That sucks, I think the feature is really good and definitely improves upon the DV playback implementation on Android TV devices. 😩
