Kodi showing the wrong size of files - Kimor - 2023-10-12

Hi all!
I just upgraded from Raspberry pi 3 to an pi 4 with 4gb.
I went with LibreELEC for Kodi. (I used OSMC
on my old pi.)
The problem is that when I browse the mkv files, it only shows up to 4gb correctly, over 4gb shows only the access over 4 gb.
(4,6gb shows as 600kb.) This is also how it’s shown if you browse with e.g Filezilla.
I have an NAS with external hard drives. Everything is NTFS. In Kodi I use ftp to connect to the NAS, since I couldn’t get SMB to work (worked on OSMC).
Is it that I use FTP instead of SMB that it shows like this? Also, the videos stops about where the access ends … If that make sense …
Kodi version 20.2

Sounds like one end or the other is a 32bit OS.  4GB is all that can be addressed with 32bits.

The data is stored correctly on hard drive and shows the correct size in Kodi (OSMC) on my pi 3..
The one thing, that I stated earlier, is that I access the files thru ftp instead of smb.
When I browse the files on the NAS or the hard drives connected to it, with Filezilla, it shows the same.
I need to connect thru smb, but I gave up …

that would be down to the ftp server on the mystery nas then

I managed to connect thru nfs and then files over 4gb correctly. So the the ftp way is not good for
playing videos.
Anyone who has any good advice connecting thru smb?

you would need to provide a Debug Log showing an issue, there could be numerous reasons it won't work and there are no common 'known fixes'

Are you sure it doesn't work, or can you just not see any shares under smb when using Kodi?  You can only browse shares using smbv1 which has massive security issues.  Most (all?) modern stuff uses smb2 or smb3.  Using those requires you to add the shared directories manually (in Kodi) as you can not just browse them. There is a guide on the forum somewhere!

The mystery NAS is an IX2-200-IOMEGA 4TB which is about 10 yrs old.
Maybe time to upgrade …

Thanks for your answer!
I tried to match settings and so on with my pi 3 which can browse smb (if I add a location with smb, I get the workgroups, and browse to where I like. On the pi 4, it’s empty)
I tried with user/password and enter the direct path. All I get is ”Connection refused by software”. I’ll check the guidelines below!

RE: Kodi showing the wrong size of files - Kimor - 2023-10-12

Problem solved!
I just set the SMB minimum/maximum version to 1 in Kodi.
Now I can access the SMB shares and file size and playback works as it should.

Thanx all for your inputs!
