XBox Series X issues - Moyni - 2024-01-06

Hi all,

I'm having a number of issues on the XBox series X. Firstly, just getting a film to play is not working well. I have tried changing the render method to DXVA and the film starts, but stops after about 3 seconds.

Secondly, audio passthrough isnt working. I have my xbox connected to a Sony AV receiver through the TV but it never changes from Dolby Atmos.

Any ideas?

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... Debug Log

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

There are no instructions how to do this on Xbox.

TV's not allows passthrough Dolby Atmos / TrueHD to AVR.

Instead, you need to connect it like this:

Xbox ------> AVR ------> TV

Sorry, yes thats how its connected.

This is not generic "Kodi on Xbox" issue as for others works:

Have you enabled passthrough on both the Xbox and Kodi?

RE: XBox Series X issues - jjd-uk - 2024-01-07

Sounds like the Xbox is encoding everything to Atmos in which case it's an Xbox settings issue. Do you have passthrough enabled in the Xbox audio settings https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/help/hardware-network/display-sound/audio-passthrough#:~:text=To%20access%20Audio%20Passthrough%2C%20press,%3E%20Additional%20Options%20%3E%20Allow%20Passthrough.

RE: XBox Series X issues - Moyni - 2024-01-08

Yeah, passthrough works with other apps such as the blu ray player, Netflix etc.

RE: XBox Series X issues - medinauta - 2024-01-29

My wasn’t using passthrough while in Kodi until I changed the device input in Kodi >Settings > System > Audio.

Changed it from “Wasapi: Device HDMI”to “Wasapi: Default”
