RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - micsten - 2014-05-15

Ok thanks, tried that but I'm getting a lot of 'Permission Denied' messages when i run that command...

for example 1 of them:

rm: cannot remove `/home/atv/.xbmc/addons/script.module.elementtree/lib/docs/pythondoc-elementtree.ElementTree.html': Permission denied

I tried changing permissions from within the Filezilla FTP when accessing the directory to all be 777 so that maybe i could overwrite them, but that didn't seem to work either. Any ideas?

Login as the same user that owns the files (that you use to run xbmc). Or use sudo.

RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - micsten - 2014-05-15

Sorted! Thanks for your help :-)

I was struggling to login as the user that owns the files so had to reset the password for root (sudo passwd root).

Hopefully the subtitle bug is resolved.

Changes:
2.5.8
* subtitle fixes
* resume point improvements - thanks to neil
* regular expression optimisations - thanks to neil

Here is my report:

* Videos play with subtitles (subtitles set as 'download and play')
** Subtitles are almost always out of sync, need to shift them manually. I think this is not new to 2.5.8, but maybe it is fixable
** Pause and resume sets the subtitles even more out of sync, sometimes more than 10 sec shift.

* Videos play without subtitles when subtitles set to 'none' or 'download to file' , if it was downloaded to a file I have no idea in which folder.

* Live TV does not show subtitles, but I almost never watched live so I am not sure there were subtitles there before (just putting this comment because someone complained about it before)

So iPlayer version 2.5.8 does not crash anymore, I would ask if the subtitle sync is something that can be fixed.

Hi,

Over the weekend the iplayer on my Apple TV is not working, starts to load then i get an error message to check my logs.

This is:

ERROR: /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/addons/plugin.video.iplayer/lib/iplayer2.py:8: DeprecationWarning: the md5 module is deprecated; use hashlib instead
import md5

Any ideas?

Thanks
Andrew

RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - exobuzz - 2014-05-26

There was a leftover import md5 line in 2.5.8 I spotted the other day, and a small code error from one of the recent patchsets so here's a minor update

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_knGioK16E6X2hLdWZIT0k3RmM/edit?usp=sharing

2.5.9
* remove duplicate import md5 line
* true -> True code fix

Hi,

2.5.9 works better that 2.5.8, but I keep getting 'Can't locate any usable TV streams'

RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - exobuzz - 2014-05-26

Because the BBC service is not returning any, most likely because your IP is not in the UK (or it thinks it isn't). BTW - Please use xbmclogs.com for debug logs (and post full ones).

You can confirm this by opening one of those mediaselector links in a browser from the same ip and checking the contents.

RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - Andrewt - 2014-05-27

Hi,

I have tried v2.4.9 as suggested and still no joy. I'm not in the UK (AU) but using Unblock-US and iplayer works on ipad and PC. I got the following errors on my debug list:

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=211729

Any help is gratefully received, but please I need it kept simple!

Thanks
Andrew

email unblock-us ?

also: http://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/questions/606199-bbc-iplayer-xbmc-not-working

I cannot offer any support watching the streams outside of the UK. It is also no fault/error of the plugin, so nothing can be done on our side.

edit: after reading your message again do you mean it works ok on XBMC on your pc and ipad?

- to add for whatever reason the rtmp hankshake is failing - so at least your connection to get auth code from the xml is working via proxy - I cant reproduce it on my end, so I can only assume its related to geolocking at the rtmp protocol level, some compatibility issue with your rtmp library and the handshake code/swf hash). So possibly a device specific issue too. If it is device issue, I still can't help, as the plugin just sends urls to xbmc to play (and xbmc sends the parameters to librtmp etc)

RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - jardes69 - 2014-05-28

I am using TOR to get UK IP. This worked for me a long time. Seems to me that BBC introduced active TOR exit points blacklisting......
