New to XMBC - sub not downloading - Asgerlund - 2010-03-27

Hi All.
Im new to xmbc, and might be why I cant figure this sub. thing out. I find all the subtitles in xbmc, but they wont download - just keep saying "doawnloading..."

I can see others have had the same problem, but the answers did´nt help me. Think I need a more ABC - basic explanation..

could any give me one?

(im using windows XP)

heres my debug file:

Hi,

Welcome to the forums,

please enable debug logging under scripts settings and try again, post the xbmc debug log after that.

Cheers,
Zeljko

It seems that the script has stopped working for no reason.

It stops at "Searching subtitles". I've tried the latest nightly from mars 1 with the code from Google code, but then the script won't even start.

Here's the log:

Thanks

the script from Google code's SVN wont work with nightlies, that is intended for latest trunk(post addons merge)

you need to use OpenSubtitles_OSD v 1.5 with nightlies or build your own xbmc from trunk to use Google code's SVN.

look at couple of posts before yours, andy83 had the same issue

I see. Although the 1.50 doesn't work with the nightlies OR 9.11 either anymore, nothing happens and it stalls while searching for subtitles. Well, Opensubtitles doesn't work, the "other one" does, although it doesn't give me any good results.

I am sorry that it doesnt work for you, it works for me on all services, look below

it is very difficult for me to troubleshoot it if it works for me and not for you, and I cant reproduce the problem here.

Do you think that it would help if I deleted all settings and library and such? I haven't done that yet, since it takes too long to rescan the library again. Last I did it took about one and a half hour.

dont think that would solve the issue, it could be that OS website is sometimes down or slow. not sure how often you see this issue(or is it permanent). try enabling debug logging in XBMC and script settings and posting the log, maybe something useful will come out of it. it could be the name of the file or similar.

The problem was permanent, it didn't matter which version of XBMC I used or what movie/tv show I watched - the script always stalled when searching.

Either way, I removed all usersettings, libraryfiles and whatnot and re-installed XBMC from scratch, having to set all settings and library again.

It seems that the script has started working again, so it was most definitly some settings from either XBMC or the script that messed things up.

It's all good now, the only downside is that I have to rescan the library, but I'd rather put an hour or so on that, than not being able to search for subtitles at all.

Thank you very much Zeljko

Really hope that you can help me with this. I still have the problem with the program just keeps saying "downloading" I am using confluence as skin (if this has any influence at all).

I thought that I had enabled the debug logging - but have tryied to do it again. "settings - system -debugging enabled"...

here is the debug file.. http://pastebin.com/EhgZJ66S

hmm - problem is I am not sure how to enable debug logging under script settings! - If I right click on the "script" folder I can get -"show debug info" (is this what you mean?)
, but I cant seem to find a place where I can enable debug logging under scripts settings.. ( I need a really basic explanation, if you have the time...)

sorry for being such a newb, but I really want this to work, as I find the script totally priceless (if I can get it to work)...
