Just about any MKV with subtitles takes about a minute to load up before it will play for me. MKVs without subtitles, or with external subtitles, load up and play instantly.

I've been meaning to say for a while, but I wanted to wipe my XBMC install first and confirm it happens by default, its only recently I've gotten around to.

Probably answered somewhere.. What build should I be running for a HTPC I am building for a buddy. Will most likely not be updated on a regular basis. For my own I do not mind trying out the nightly builds to see what works and what does not..

Specs
Acer Box,
AMD X3 processor with Nvidia 8200, 4GB ram..

May still just run the Live version.

Any thoughts?

Thanks all,

Mike

Nuke the msvcr90.dll/mcvcp90.dll in your install directory (if they are there) and install the VC++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable package (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en)
That solved my loading time problems for mkv files with styled subs.

Also take a look at your font cache and nuke that directory if necessary (%appdata%\XBMC\cache). I've noticed that if that gets too big, load times seem to suffer.

@azido: I meant Movies, yes.

Also, the video overlay is working fine for me in all skins I can get one in. I have no idea how I'm supposed to get the screen you show there in your skin, nor whether you guys are just doing something wrong. Post an example that clearly shows the problem in a separate thread ideally using something like PM3.HD.

Cheers,
Jonathan

The DLLs were gone for a while now, in fact, XBMC wouldn't play mkvs at all if they were there. But I'll check the cache.

EDIT: clearing the cache worked, but none of the cached files were older than 10 days old...........I've had this issue for months. I guess XBMC needs to clear this cache or something during exit.

ok, the keyboard issue still exists. the interesting thing is it only affects arrow movements left+right and only on startup. that's why you won't notice it on skins where the buttons to move on are aligned horizontally. pressing any other key triggers it's assigned function as usual (like for example pressing S for shutdown menu).

xbmc.log only spits out

10:46:15 T:8020 M:4294967295 ERROR: exception in CApplication:Tonguerocess()

activating debug.log gives this for pressing arrow left on initial startup:

10:55:38 T:6136 M:4294967295 DEBUG: SDLKeyboard: scancode: 75, sym: 276, unicode: 0, modifier: 0

i thought it might have to do with our extra python scripts (library totals, recently added widgets) so i disabled them, but that does not change anything. they do also not work on startup, unless you leave home menu and come back again - then all goes back to normal.

on current svn 23912 GL i notice an additional startup delay of about 2 seconds before the home screen backdrop is shown.

I still have the same keyboard problem on build 23944-DX and I have it starting from build 23796, it seems that, after startup, keyboard doesn't have any effect until you move the mouse on the xbmc window (on any home button), or you click on it.

(i'm using aeon-hitched)
Hope this help, tnx Smile

i can confirm i have still the same issue on 23944 GL and DX on aeon showmix. dunno what's the difference that it works for jonathan but not for us. maybe the graka? (though i dunno how that could affect the keyboard usage)

i think i'm gonna wipe that version and install a new one, just to see if there is a difference.

- KoTiX - 2009-10-24

Well it's not only the keyboard, it's also the xbox1 dvd remote using eventhghost that doesn't work.
I found also that this doesn't happen in pm3 and happen only in the home window in aeon; if you set xbmc to start in a different window it works almost fine (you have to push twice the key the first timebut it's ok), so I guess it doesn't happen in pm3 because it's not using the wraplist that xbmc use in Aeon

23973 is up, anyone tested that build yet?

audio fixed?
keyboard fixed?

- azido - 2009-10-24

once again i notice although the zip says its 23973 the build info onscreen states its 23944. dunno what to think about that.

anyway, using the latest available zip from kricker's dir still gets me that keyboard issue. this time, i can say it has nothing to do with any previous stuff, as i did a complete new install of xbmc. no old userdata imported, too.

I didnt update XBMC since 23739 DX.. Guess I am lucky Big Grin

was able to check digital output today. does work as long as it is only stereo material, but no sound for ac3 or dts passthrough and movie freezes after 15 secs.
