- spanik - 2009-11-25 Hello, I can confirm that I installed Option1, followed by Option2; and xbmc is working. Now I cannot tell you if Option2 actually installed anything (or just failed on everything and I basically still have Option1 up & running) but it works. I have not had time to power up my ION box since that evening I did the install; will try your fix for the HDMI sound next time, cheers. And I can confirm that just like you, I cannot shutdown from xbmc, it simply does a reboot ; same issue as you. Again, did not have time to look for a fix. cheers - flxfxp - 2009-11-25 kizer Wrote:FlxFxp I looked through your log and I didn't see any error messages at all. It also looks like you only installed the app, but didn't run option 2 unless I'm seeing it wrong. The problem seems to be the nvidia driver. I was testing under jaunty, not karmic. It seems the nvidia driver causes problems with xorg, which in turn prevents xbmc from running. Take a look at the xorg.log here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/50769/xbmscript/Xorg.0.log The Karmic capable version of xbmscript is taking shape nicely. Still on course for a release. I'll look into the rollback idea. Dennis Hi Dennis - G500 - 2009-11-25 Hi Dennis long time well just a quick one ive just sold my Asrock ION 330 and got the new version the ASrock ION HT the one with the Remote Controller will the Remote work with your install off XMBC Many thanks Glen - flxfxp - 2009-11-25 G500 Wrote:Hi Dennis long time Maybe it works out of the box, try installing lirc and use the new mediacenter remote option. Dennis - G500 - 2009-11-25 Ok Dennis ill let you know later if it dose M8 - flxfxp - 2009-11-25 G500, it seems it doesnt work by default, check this thread for assistance: http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61840 I can't help you since I do not have such a unit and do not have the money to buy it. Kizer, I tried installing using your "band aid" script, but it fails as well. There seems something wrong with the nvidia kernel + xorg: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/50769/xbmscript/Xorg.0.log Help? - kizer - 2009-11-27 flxfxp, keep in mind I didn't write the bandaid, I'm just hosting it because somebody else put it up. I'm getting the bad install on the nvidia driver as well. - d3CoY - 2009-11-28 kizer Wrote:flxfxp, keep in mind I didn't write the bandaid, I'm just hosting it because somebody else put it up. I'm getting the bad install on the nvidia driver as well. try to rebuild the driver instead: sudo apt-get install xorg build-essential gcc linux-headers-`uname -r` sudo apt-get install wget wget http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/190.42/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-190.42-pkg1.run sudo sh NVIDIA-*.run - flxfxp - 2009-11-28 Thats what is included in the beta for now as well. It seems that there are problems with the deb's, which is a shame since the run packages don't support automatic updates with synaptic - remb0 - 2009-11-28 i have done an install with another username and pass. on ubuntu full install. is there anyway that i can use that script? I run @ karmic. is there coming an verion for karmic where we can use other pass & username? (a dynamic version?) because i think this software is great!!! - SKiNNiEH - 2009-11-29 i'm getting the following error on a clean 9.04 minimal install: "This script only works on the user xbmc. exiting..." the whoami portion of your script is checking for the user xbmc, but "sudo whoami" returns root (which makes sense). - FireMan - 2009-11-29 And which user you are running the script on? I believe the error is self-explaining... Will run only on user xbmc. Regards. - SKiNNiEH - 2009-11-29 the script says you have to run it using sudo, so thats what i do. - FireMan - 2009-11-30 Ok, but you should always read the 1st page, especially when the info is in red: Quote:XBMScript has only been tested under the user “xbmc”. Using a other username might cause some breakage! Please let me know if this is the case. So, this is probably the case Try creating a user called xbmc and run the script with sudo under xbmc user. Regards. - flxfxp - 2009-11-30 My mistake, fixed. |
