A few weeks ago I sent an email to nuvoton asking for Linux drivers for the asrock ION remote. I just received an email back :

Dear Sir:
Please see the CIR linux driver for NCT6775F / NCT6771F (Ubuntu 9.10, kernel 2.6.31, lirc 0.8.6) as attached.
Best,

With the following files attached:

Did anyone else receive this email?

I'm currently not at home, so I haven't tested it. Besides that, I'm a Ubuntu n00b. So maybe someone can test the files, and then please tell me what to do with them! Laugh

so the bulit-in ir thingy works on linux now? what about wlan?

- trolly - 2009-12-21

My xbmc is 9.11b2

Lirc not installed yet.

Should dpkg -i deb and apt-get install lirc the only thing to do ?

Thanks

I haven't gotten my reply yet but I downloaded them and yes they work!

Kudos to X3lectric, generator, trolly and anyone else who fought the cause. As things go it would seem a pretty decent turnaround time from nuvoton to get these drivers out don't ya think?

Perhaps X3 you could update your excellent My Asrock ION 330 HT - Tweaks, tips, tricks & fixes thread with the news.

Still no joy getting wi-fi working with LIVE for me unfortunately. That that just a config issue and my lack of knowledge on how to do it. Lots off ppl have that working.

Peace

*Edit: I know nothing of Linux but all i did was "dpkg -i lirc-nct677x-1.0.0-ubuntu9.10.deb" and then restarted. That fixed it for me.

I have the official drivers now just out the press straight out of nuvoton

They come in deb format dont ask how to install them and I have not tested them yet such is the rush to get them out. So dont ask me if it works.

Anyone know how to get the internal remote chip to wake up the ASRock from sleep?

I've read som guides about how to enable the Microsoft MCE remote to wake it up, but it's attached to the USB so enabeling the USB devices in /proc/acpi/wakeup won't do the work.

I tried enableling the CIR aswell as I thought it was it but still no go.
Tried enabeling everything there to, but nothing worked.

I got the remote working 99% now, only problem is this (now I need to resume it by either pressing the keyboard or the powerbutton)

the startup via remote must be enabled IN BIOS it is by default but I would check the cir device is senabled and boot on cir as well

More on how to set up the HT CIR driver on my post below on signature the Forum location thx to the_alien

Did you have a remote control installed before installing this driver?

As I had the same problem and found that because I had the Xbox1 remote installed I had to blacklist lirc_atiusb.
