Is 7200 RPM Needed for 1080p movies - Songoku - 2009-11-20

Hi i've found that samsung has a very cheap 1.5TB HDD's but they are 5400 RPM.

Samsung 1.5 TB 5400 RPM 32MB SATA2

Is 5400 rpm hdd ok for streaming 1080p mkv or bluray files?

Thank you

That disk should be enough. Since a 1080p movie is around 8 -15 gb in size and has a playtime of 90 minutes. which means 15000mb/5400sek =~ 3mb/s. Which i guess is far less then the average read speed is on that disk.
