[REQUEST] LOVEFiLM Queues or Watch Online Script / Plugin Addon? - edz2k9 - 2009-12-16

Given that Netflix is already so integrated into various plugins for XBMC, does anyone know of a LoveFilm (official typeset "LOVEFiLM") plugin that offers similar queue manipulation or even a "watch online" watch now feature?

LOVEFiLM is a British company that offers similar services to Netflix but for the United Kingdom, Germany, and Scandinavia (Sweden, Norway, and Denmark). Simislar to what Spotify does for music, LOVEFiLM offers flat-rate on-demand video streaming over the internet of movies and TV Shows episodes.

Official LOVEFiLM API:
http://developer.lovefilm.com
Quote:Welcome to the LOVEFiLM API

The LOVEFiLM API allows anyone to build their own LOVEFiLM-integrated widget, web or desktop application for access on the web or via any device. Our aim is to enhance and broaden ways in which our members can interact with their LOVEFiLM accounts, ways they use other LOVEFiLM products and services, and ways they can find the films they want to watch.

We hope that extending innovation beyond our in-house team will unleash the potential of the wider development community – we’re excited to see what you can come up with.

There is also an opportunity to earn bounties from our affiliate programme, details of which are available here.

Getting Started

We are currently in beta, which means that aspects of our API may be subject to change.

* access to our API is managed via Mashery. You may register a developer account here, which is separate from your LOVEFiLM subscriber account (if you have one).
* once registered, read our documentation to see what we have made available and to get familiar with our API interface.
* register your application and apply for an API key. The API key is your application's unique identifier when making API calls.
* talk to us and other developers on the Developer Forums to understand more about this offering and to troubleshoot.
* contact us directly if you would like to discuss access to specific features or data.

There are two kinds of applications. Our Premium service is aimed at applications looking to reach upwards of 10,000 unique LOVEFILM subscribers. If you are interested in creating a Premium application, please contact us at [email protected].

* Premium
o must use the LOVEFiLM brand, and look & behave like a LOVEFiLM designed and built product
o may have access to rich metadata / non-public APIs
o in addition to the Terms of Use, are subject to additional approval from LOVEFiLM

* Standard
o must use the LOVEFiLM brand in accordance with our brand guidelines (including the logo) but should make it clear that LOVEFiLM have not designed, built, endorsed or sponsored the application
o must use content in new and meaningful ways that provides additional benefit to users - 're-purposing' rather than 're-publishing' our data.
o can make 4 queries per second and 5000 calls per day and may request increased call limits as and when these are exceeded (subject to review)

All applications can be submitted to our forums and may be featured and promoted by LOVEFiLM in our Gallery.

I'd be interested in this too, and i'm sure there are quite a few UK XBMCers that have have a lovefilm account in the same way that US ones have netflix. AFAIK the lovefilm streaming is a relatively new offering, where they have one batch of movies/shows included in subscriptions and another for extra pay to download. the faq states it is a flash player so i assume it should be straightforward for a script to extract the stream?

I too would love this (excuse the pun). Any movie/tv streaming would would be awesome. If i was smart enough/spent more that 5 mins on it, i would set up iptables to route all traffic going to netflix, over a us vpn, just so i could have ANY legal movie streaming. LoveFilm being the obvious choice as then i dont break any laws :-)

Count me in as another interested member.

Yes, count me in too!!

Looks interesting, btw they are offering a load of movies for free during the world cup.

Also interested, and ive noticed that samsung have released a connected bluray player that can access lovefilm movie streaming so it should be possible for a clever coder!

I wonder what the interface is like?

Me again,

I think the streamer is flash or may even be - eek - silverlight.

Not too worried about the streaming through, I'd be happy with access to my queue, current films at home and search / add to lists.

Count on me as well; really wanna see LoveFilm on XBMC. Do we know the requirements/limitations yet? Cheers!!

Has anyone ever tried to get access t the APIs and use them to write a App? Looking at what they require a player for XBMC would surely fulfill that requirement. You need to be a subscriber to play their movies but there's no mention of any other costs involved. Would it be feasible to create a standalone player for their content that obviously would have their proprietary apis used in it?

Count me in too. Targetting XBMC users would guarantee new subscriptions - we are already keen hobbyists proven to love our movies.

This would be great. There is a plugin for Media Center from the chap who did Tunerfree MCE that allows you to browse and watch films (if available for streaming) and add them to your rental list.

This would be amazing.
Just sold my PS3 since all I was using it for was steaming media and Blue-ray, now using just XBMC. Lovefilms is about the only thing I miss Smile

I hope someone takes up the challenge of developing this from the look of it you are required to sign an nda to develop officially and have access to their api
