[RELEASE] Project xbmc-addons-chinese (Chinese addons for Kodi) - taxigps - 2009-12-16

Introduction

This project is an repository for open source Addon scripts, plugins, and skins for Kodi Media Center. Specially for Chinese Language speaking people.

How To Use

Install Repository

To install the repository, you need to download the latest repository zip file And then:
  • Launch Kodi
  • Navigate to System | Settings | Add-ons
  • Select Install from zip file
  • Browse to the directory where the new downloaded zip file is being stored.
  • Select OK

For proper Chinese text display on xbmc, do the following steps:
  • Launch Kodi
  • Navigate to System | Settings | Appearance | skin
  • Change skin-font to "Arial based"

Install Add-ons
  • Click Get Add-ons
  • Select Chinese Add-ons Repository
  • Select the appropriate Add-ons from the display categories
  • Click to install the Add-on

Plugins Manual Installation

Official releases of all the Chinese plugins can be found in the ./repo sub-directories.
If for reasons that you need to manually install a specific plugin, you can download the required zip file from the corresponding ./repo sub-directory. Then follow the ** Install Repository ** steps described above to install the zip plugin.

edit: actually it looks like the one for xbmc-addon would work, if so i'll copy one over. do you have a preferred name for it?

we are thinking about the name.

and i have made some chinese language file for the plugins in project xbmc-addons. how to commit it?

It is nice to see there is also Chinese support to XBMC !
But i cannot find any of the plugins you mention on this google code page??
How do I get those plugins?

Also I tried the Repo installer, they mention in the update " XBMC-Addon-chinese" but it cannot be found anywhere in the directories?

Please help me out with this?

SVN Repo Installer has added the xbmc-addons-chinese but not change the version number, so you can't update it. Just run SVN Repo installer, and enter the xbmc-addons\plugins\programs and click the SVN Repo Installer to install it again. Now, you can find the xbmc-addons-chinese entry. enjoy it!

thanks, I just tried it and it works, thanks a lot.
Only I cannot get the chinese characters on it, I get squares instead. I have English windows 7 with chinese languangepack installed.
Outside xbmc the chinese characters are recognized but when i start xbmc i only see squares. Do you have a add-on for that?

You can't display chinese charachters because the default arial.ttf with xbmc not have chinese font in it. and xbmc don't use the system font which you installed in windows. Just use some chinese font to replace the arial.ttf in xbmc\media\fonts(I'm using this one:http://trac.xbmc.org/attachment/ticket/6397/DroidSansFallback%2BDejaVuSans.ttf). or just download and install the xbmc for chinese people:http://bbs.htpc1.com/thread-52775-1-1.html

I have modified some of the plug-ins (NETITV, OpenV) so that they are working with UTF-8 locales and in Linux.

How can I submit the patch to you?
