This is cool. I got it to work, but with problems. One, the Firefox window is slightly off the edge of the screen, so I can't drag it i.e. can't grab the title bar, and I can't find a keyboard shortcut that would allow me to drag the window. Also, the font for the dialog boxes is so small I can't read it. I'm going to have to dig around to see if I can find how to fix these two issues.

When I set mine up, I was running it on a computer and there was no problem. I just moved my revo to the tv and now share the issue of having firefox off of the left part of the screen. I am not sure there is an easy fix.

see http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=497805

I am looking into a couple of things now but I am tempted to just use xbmc on top of a full ubuntu install if I cannot resolve this. The downside of this is that xbmc live has such a short boot time and is lighter on resources.

The other problem I have now is no sound with firefox.

Installing Firefox into XBMC Live? - Moskaluk - 2010-01-31

Does anyone have instructions on how to install Firefox Web browser into XBMCLive such that when you go either to menu item such a "Programs" the Firefox could be a menu item item.

I would like to use the remote to open firefox in order to watch a few streaming "flash" videos such as CTV network, Sports89, CBC etc. These site do not have scripts or plug ins that XBMC could run natively.

Ideally, I prefer to use XBMC as interface because I find the Web browser old technology. But what can I do?

Thanks in advance

Don

There is a recent thread with discussion on setting up firefox with xbmc live. I'd take a look there.

Click on Search. Type In Firefox. Look down about 8 or 9 items.

For crying out lout. On the first page of the search results for "Firefox" is "[LIVE] HOW-TO install Firefox in an XBMC Live setup"

I'm not going to post a link if you are really that lazy...

Name calling is not nessary. The problem is with the "Search" with in this forum. I get an error 500. Second part to this is I'm not looking for a simplistic search or discussion I'm am looking for a solution that a person has tried and validated. If you are such a person than thank you. I appreciate it.

I used google to search and found this link: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=68505

Is this a valid way to install firefox using the above parameters or is this too experimental?

Please only respond if you have tried the above link and you can validate that it works.

Sincerely, "Lazy" Don

Since that how-to thread is about what you are trying accomplish, I'd suggest posting there since it is a recent active thread.

Fun reading but the trouble with this thread is its in the top 10 results both on Google and xbmc.org search.

I believe this is the original "we're" looking for: http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=337470&postcount=7

Then the 2010 post http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=493009&postcount=1

The directions using launcher worked for me but when i click on firefox nothing happens. I have xbmc 9.11 and the newest version of launcher

- Moskaluk - 2010-02-09

On the above instruction the flash does not install and when I go and launch firefox nothing happens as well. My assumption is there is a few things to look at, such that:
1. Permission may need to change the file to exacute
2. possible that firefox did not install properly.

Thanks for the confirmation; however, I looking for someone that has installed the above instruction and ensure that it is working.

Thanks Lazy Don

That is the second post in the thread and wasn't why I started the thread originally and while I wish it worked, I thought a Ubuntu setup was my intent FWIW. Sorry, I haven't bothered to try the "launcher" thing.

I just close XBMC and run Firefox from the Gnome desktop

Has anyone had any luck with this? I'm having the same problem, and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong to save my life. I'm on an Acer Revo 1600 running the latest Launcher and XBMC Live . . . Launcher pops something up real quick, disappears, and nothing else happens.

I've even wiped the box and reinstalled fresh but . . same thing.
