Photos and the bathroom - Darkfall - 2010-11-15

Superorb Wrote:^^ Yeah, I think photos are required in your case Wink

Bathroom setups are pretty moot for me since I want to get in/out to get back to what I was watching on the big screen. Do you have everything run from a single database so you can leave 1 room and pick up where you left off in another room? Pretty elaborate.

I'll get some photos together as soon as I can. I actually watch movies and TV while sitting in the jet tub - so no rush to get in and out and back to the living room.

The XBMC boxes aren't aware of each other - they all just get their media from the same server. So, they all see the same music, movies, and TV shows, but they don't synchronize watched data or remember where I was when I stopped watching a show in another room.

I did find that running around the house, telling all the boxes to update their library was a pain in the butt - until I started using Ember Media Manager and the XBMC plug in. With the plug in, I can have EMM scrape the new show, then click to have all of the XBMC boxes update automatically right from inside EMM. Very nice - saves me a ton of time.

A centralized DB could be a solution for you (Read this topic, or make a search about "mysql" )

Also you could look at this article on Lifehacker..

I don't have photos on hand, but I could take some if people want to see stuff - just let me know what you want to see in the pictures, and I'll snap a few shots.

Some pictures would indeed be nice, especially of the bathroom setup!

That is a very interesting read. I only have one PC setup at the moment running XBMC from the HD (a Revo). I am toying with getting a 2nd one for the bedroom, and the solution you sent seems like an easier way to go in setting these up.
Thanks for the tip.;

"Who has the most extensive XBMC home theater setup? Please post your pictures here.."

The more pics the merrier Smile Perhaps share via Picasa Web Albums or something similar... Looking forward to checking it out.
