Why? its totally out of context and place. Ask in the proper threads. Again this is a thread about dxva - not skins.

http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/8751 for the details about the hdmi setting.
In short, hdmi allows the passthrough of compressed formats (currently AC3, DTS, AAC, MP3) to have them decoded by the receiver rather than the HTPC.

steelman, search the forum for audio delays with auto refresh rate. You're not the only one with this, although it seemed to be mostly fixed.

CrystalP - yeah read the the TRAC ticket, hence my request for assistance - what isn't clear is what effect the lack of HDMI availability within the video OS has to the rest of the audio chain - anything?, because that option isn't available in that portion of the OSD - might that be causing some type of conflict/issue. Perhaps not, as the implementation of 'overscan' in my driver software seems to have resolved the issues I was having. Was aware of others problems, having had them myself for some time - just thought that the issue of the 'missing' HDMI option might have been part of the problem/resolution.

I fixed up the OSD, you can try again.

elupus Wrote:Because there is no difference from xbmc's side between hdmi multichannel output and having 5.1 analog cables to your receiver. So it's a pointless setting.
It is not. If I connect through HDMI I might be interested in passing through AC3, DTS, whatever (which is something you obviously can't do with analog connection) and at the same time pass 5.1 multichannel (ie. FLAC) untouched. As it was before, if you set to analog everything was getting decoded, if you set to digital everything not passed through was re-encoded in AC3 (even lossless FLAC).

From TRAC:

The spinner will have the following options:
  • "Analog"
  • "Optical/Digital"
  • "HDMI"
The difference between HDMI and Optical/Digital is that HDMI will never transcode, where the other will if it needs to. Is this acceptible?

Anyway, this is off topic here, sorry.

- elupus - 2010-05-20

Agreed, HDMI should never transcode. But if I have 5.1 analog output and spdif, I should not transcode either. Which is the identical situation with your hdmi case.

I'm not saying what the setting currently happens to do is not something we want, i'm saying it has nothing todo with HDMI.

- elupus - 2010-05-20

We should just have two spinners for channel count. One for the passthrough/transcoded case and one for the direct all channels output case.

Then just select what is optimal for the current source's channel count.

This is not the best place to discuss audio. Elupus, let's step outside Smile

Hehe, yea wrong thread. Just had to respond Smile

Hey I have a question about DXVA.

I have one 720p video (LotR: Two towers) where half of the screen is green. It's only 720p video that does that. Any suggestions as to why? Should I pull a bug log and let you guys look at it? It's really annoying.

As an added. If I play the same video in VLC or in wmplayer using ffdshow with DXVA, it plays perfectly fine.

- elupus - 2010-05-21

I though all the half screen issues was solved in svn..

Which build are you running? I have 28256. If there's a newer nightly, can you point me in the direction of where to download it? Big Grin

How do I get Add-ons to work with this?

If they would work.... or maybe they do, but I just don't know how... this would be the perfect build.

- elupus - 2010-05-21

They sort of work, but must be upgraded with new describing xml's and put in the addons folder instead.
