Of course it works, I wouldn't have released it otherwise - all my AVI and ISO files play fine.

semprini Wrote:Great looking skin!

One problem I'm having, though. I don't have the white "transparent" overlay on the screen; I have a black background when no fanart is present, and when fanart IS present, it's completely unobscured...the text is unreadable. There is a white bar at the top of the screen that large enough for the text there, but everything is black below that.

I didn't download the Textures file because I'm running this on my HTPC, not Xbox. I wondered if I actually need that file for it to look like the screenshots posted.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Update on my problem...

I downloaded a few color tweak .xml files from the Alaska thread. I can select them in the Settings menu but I still have solid black for the lower 95% of the screen. Font colors change, but it's like there's no overlay.

Does anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks.

Are you running this as a separate skin or have you copied over the other Alaska files?

Thanks for the reply.

This is the only Alaska skin I've tried. (It looks simply AMAZING, by the way.) The only time I have a "full" white screen is when I'm in the Settings screen, but there is still a definite white bar at the top of the screen.

I'm new to XBMC so I'm not that well-versed in how it works. I came from Meedio and MeediOS.

Right, well firstly there's little point in trying to add stuff from the official Alaska unless you know exactly what you're doing and make code changes.

Secondly it sounds like there's a problem with the filter.png so try downloading directly from the source,

https://alaska-revisited.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/%20alaska-revisited/media/filter.png

Thanx for the response
but is there a way to add them as my Video plug ?
im sorry i just dont undustend wht do You mean by : its not even coded .

so the answer is simply : NO
?
i just like to know ...after all im still staying with alaska , becose of the look , i can still search for my movies .

the other problem is : when i change to see my Movies by the Year: nothing is happening , they still show as by Name , do You think is a problem with XBMC or the skin ?

I notice this project is on googlecode rather than git, any reason?...just curious. Sometime in the future I have to pick one, thx.

By 'not coded' I mean just that - there's no DialogFavourites.xml in the skin.

Having said that, stay tuned because I am working on one.

I've gone over to using SVN (found it easier than Git) and Google Code is free.

Is the normal version of Alaska also over to SVN? If so, where can we found it?

That did the trick! Thanks!

I did a search for "filter.png" (in order to see where to place the file) and opened the old version. It had a white bar at the top and all black underneath. I replaced it and it works perfectly.

I greatly appreciate your assistance.

loving this theme, very nice. very quick also on my revo.

couple of issues though...

audio osd has overlapping issues, and so does the plot section in the top left when looking at info whilst playing back a movie.. (not sure is these are due to correcting screen overscan??).

also had a weird issue of the play/pause osd being cut off during playback of some movie files (again maybe related to overcan correction). from what i could tell there is nothing special about these movie types (720p h.264), but others of similar ilk dont cause the osd overscan...).

i know its an unfinished skin, but thought i'd at least post these bugs. oh, and the audio/video setting buttons didn't work on the now playing osd.

- Hitcher - 2010-03-25

You need a newer build of XBMC to stop the overlapping problem (see first post).

As for the OSD being cut off are you sure you're not confusing the Progress and Info screens?
